beauty, closer now to heaven than the stars, death, faith, fear, freedom, life, mystery, nature, release, sorrow, truth

had time
herself delayed
for to listen as my love
what freedoms come
to swallow up your fears
release as I
once promised
wings returned to flight
a dark
beyond the search
of constellations
wishes falling round
denied a place
to keep
ashes white with snow
adorn the path
had time delayed
forever –
one minute more
for me
wherever now my wings
are sworn to reach

blessing, death, grace, let me, loss, love, sorrow, truth

whatever life
i’ve left to owe
of graces given me –
gardens not yet seeded
in my wake
let me go
the way of winds
denied the fate of man
as longing proved
another soul
to save

let me dance
three angels deep
for moments undeserved
as lilac blooms
wherever roses grow
let me be
your secrets
a dream within your dream
as life restored –
a truth nobody
knows

a hand to hold, ache, age, grief, life, live, love, memory, missing, sorrow, soul, spirit memory, time, touch, trust

somewhere I know
you’re missing me –
I feel it in my bones
thick as blood
the curse of love
some other to atone

some other truth
an ageless lie –
to me they taste the same
as chicory to brandy –
memory to flame

somewhere
there is no faulting –
or life to intercede
somewhere
we sleep as one
in fields of green

beyond the reach
of wanting –
for another hand to hold
somewhere
the heart remembers
how I miss you
in my soul

death, discontent, forgiveness, lies, love, peace, places we were loved, sorrow, story, trouble, truth, war

from these pieces
will they ever
understand the way we were
all this fighting over nothing
will they wonder –
what was for
of the buried
of the broken
will the weary
be misled
when moss is
grown around us –
will they deem our savior dead
will they shake their heads
in questioning
of when and why we came –
and gather near our remnants
to worry o’er each name
rewritten there
committed every discontent
to stone
for stories unremembered
but to these who weep alone
will our beauty
be forgotten
by a world who never knew
the ways we came
to understand
the mystery of truth

maps we drew in darkness ~

alone, brokenness, enduring, faith, ignorance, knowing, life, love, maps, refuge, sorrow, surrender, tears, truth

I’ve spent some time
in disbelief –
with years to wonder why
mornings washed
a flood of tears –
yet not a one to dry

not a one to
understand –
and ne’er a will to know
beds made up with thistle
and left along
the road

with none to share
who can say
they knew far better than
those who dream of dying –
who walk a broken land

who decides
and who condemns
the ways for which we came
with maps we drew in darkness –
hurts we gave
our name

another me, becoming, breath, destiny, life, love, memory, moments, sorrow, spirit, stars, time, truth, wishes, words

for every sorrow
I was traded –
for a wish
beneath the stars
a breath
that was my pillow
spared of dreams
words
are given pardon
and a place
I still belong –
carried me
cross every night
between

becoming this
a lover’s rite
spun into a page –
verses wrapped
in verses
senseless rhyme
remembered
to another
where destinies
entwined –
wishes fell
to break the spell
of time

another dawn, breath, faith, hope, life, light, love, nature, prayers, sorrow, soul speak, spirit, time

sundown

when doves are lined
above the wall
singing of their sorrows
when gardens grow
to touch the edge of day
let love remain
the same as once it was
will be another –
a light we knew
when for this dawn
we prayed

. . .

blessings, family, grief, home, honor, joy, legacy, life, love, memories, remnants of a life well-lived, sorrow, time

beyond the rivers edge

too soon
the rush –
of stars to flight
of lullabies
rehearsed –
warming how our hearts
were broken through

beyond the bend
a river flows –
in rifts of joy
and sorrow
lines are stretched
to frame an endless blue

there you are
awaiting –
with wishes for us here
where love remains
with every thought of you

. . .

abundance, blessing, days between, death, grief, home, love, memory, remembrance, sorrow, tears, time, worth

yesterhere

dare we worry
the darkness coming
– or tears
we’re bound to leave
a sorrow not yet given –
tis a blessing
I believe

a barter made
for living –
will grieve our losses
soon enough

with silence
meant for breaking –
were not for love

let us take our fill
of passion
and toast the days
til when –
we meet beyond the taking
in the place
where love began

home

morning waits
to fill the ache –
where once I held your heart
shadows cleft between
the dusk and day
reminders of my sorrow –
threads I’ve pulled apart
memories
to keep my dreams
awake

verses tend
my longing –
as curses rise to fall
photographs of photographs
a promise yet unmade
what heaven
has forgotten us
moments spent this way –
near enough to witness
the loss
of yesterday
