breath (2)

it seems
as I’ve forgotten
the hurting side of me
bent in place
a damn disgrace
now a mystery
folded into shadow
and pressed against the boards
a whole lot more than memory
was trapped
beneath that door
so hurry now
the day is waning
and feathers chase the night
dragons cry
a liquid sky –
of whispers bearing light

(as tender fall
our wishes all around)

. . .

as willing as we are ~

surenuff

some things
not meant for keeping –
not meant for talking
through the night
don’t waste my time
with dreams
nobody dreams
or tell me of a someday
we might meet –
we might not
find the way as willing
as we are

day begins at night

keep the burn ablaze
make for me a place –
I will come to home
and breathe
of all I know
in this
and each beginning –
each returning to reveal
of ways we thought
were learning us
alone
keep the fire
say my name
into each misty morn
write my soul
to cedar –
to pages of your own
keep my place
as love becomes
a memory of futures cast
real as dreams
we prayed aloud –
into the sweet
unknown

catcher

what truth is mine
I’ve wondered
a time or two
no less
memorizing lines
from another place in time
where I was mortified
of loving
held in place
by life
staring out the window
as the world slipped by –
gathered into keeping
for another
bye and bye

sweet
the quietude becoming
ashes blown
now blue
the moon
recalled to breath
another summer
a long cold porch
leaving soon
the memory
of goodbye

of desire

another time
some other page
whereon the future falls
a fret to overwrite
the past undone
a silent seal
from all the rest
desire come to be
a life denied the living
carries me

night whispers

you could call it love
tho I might deem it something else –
an urgency shared
with an ancient moon
pressed into memory –
as evidence of fate
a need unresolved
longing so old
I’ve almost forgotten
how it feels
to be remembered

. . .

snowfall

what of fate
could one life master
or one card played
impress the soul
with ways beyond –
this everafter
moments spared
not long ago

curs’ed vice
of indecision
which to choose
and which to let
become the proof
of resurrection –
restoring more than life
to death

. . .

still

from the still
words are fluttered
into life
key by key
come from silence
into something
more than voice –
much more
than me

poems spread
as bees to honey
moths to flame
I don’t know how
what am I
but a means becoming –
another life
is grace allowed

prophecy
or misplaced longing –
from the start
I can’t recall
where I was
when first I noticed
verses
without voice
at all

homeforgood

from this road
onto another
how we bend
how we lean
into a path so unfamiliar –
through the wooded
woods again

I can’t pretend
to know the reasons
why and where
the way becomes
a place we stood
some distant season
making plans
of a sweet unknown

giving heart
our soul’s permission
to write in verses
yet unseen
carving time into a promise
– to find again
the place
we dreamed
