as real can be, home, life, love, memory, spirit, trust, truth

by the ways
i remember –
a path through the pines
all i could see
was the light
of your eyes –
a tender come home
melting the miles
by the ways
i remember –
you there
a hand folded softly
with mine
dreams planted sweetly
to heart –
distance
not so
the place
where i still
tender your longing
to moments divine –
a resounding
come home
echoes soft
through the pines

what was left
of the creek
has turned into dust
(was here
i once held up the night)
was right here
beside you
covered with dew
assessing the stars
(wishes in flight)
was heaven this close
(i scarce can recall)
how sweet was your love
on my skin –
venus made nest
in a handful of curls
words seeking silence
again
(and again)
tell me once more
how swiftly the waves
to carry us far
from this place where we lay
how cool were
the oceans –
(created from dust)
to hold what was left
(to the story)
of us

. . .

where I was before ~

❤

the busy moth
a night becomes
the color of the moon
a shade the same
as breath
within the cold
ashes drift
and I’m returning
to where I was before –
awake when no one knew
to ask the dream

. . .

across and back this everafter ~

another me, life, love, memory, nature, poetry, seasons, soul, spirit, time, touch

had i nothing
but one more ache –
another poem come of this
ashes swirl beyond the meadow
leaves returning
a golden bliss

silence fills
an almost whisper
breezes brush the tallest pines
remembered not
to indecision –
other worlds where stars align

bid me go
or let me linger –
will this earthly heart to slow
across and back
this everafter –
is home to every
love i’ve known

dance, love, music, spirit, stars, time, wrapped around

we poured blues
in shades of black –
thunder raining down
broken chords
ancient words
married to my soul
famously
a rebel
could sit the night with red
held against a dreamer
lines to fit
just so

a poet slept
and there i fell
lost within the rhyme
made of then
much better –
than ever I could say
strings stretched tight
across my bow
breath beneath the pine
as fingers found
a memory
to play

. . .

songs I cannot hear ~

carry me sweetly, knowledge, life, love, nature, poetry, silence, spirit, truth, understanding, what I know

are there songs
the swallow knows –
as breath against my ear
the poetry of doves
who can hear
a string of lines
only pines
are made to understand
notes beneath
the silences I fear

story yet unwritten
leaves
of yesterday –
moments stretched
to fill eternity
a touch
falls unnoticed
as wings upon the sea –
to find I never told you
what I whispered
to the breeze

are there words
I’ve still to ponder –
trapped beneath my skin
truths to breach the night
lest I pretend
there is nothing left
to make a noise
no feelings I can hide
songs I cannot hear
above the tide

. . .

destiny, I don't like roses;nature, life, love, mystery, spirit, wild, wilderness, woman

she wasn’t meant
for roses
no ordinary bloom
could spare the vine
so intertwined
with wild and wanting
roots

sometimes a weed
of twisted lace
is all she desires to be
a rare bouquet
of everything –
a garden growing free

beyond the need
for crimson
ruby reds and pinks
a shade of honeysuckle
seldom bleeds

she wasn’t meant
for roses
edges so defined
a mystery –
of tangled leaf
by love
left unconfined

language of another birth ~

eternal, faith, just this once, life, lifetimes, love, memory, soul, spirit, time

coincidence
has taught me well
the tenderness
of falling
sapphire blue horizons
pastures green
language
of another birth
a mother such as mine
carried me
buried me –
stayed the years
between

a sweet terrain
my body still
creates her destiny
abandoned maps
and loves
they couldn’t stay
a faithful moon
grieves alone –
the girl I used to be
forgotten roads
my soul has
worn away

. . .

hallelujah ~

again, home, life, love, memory, sometimes, spirit, trust

have your hands
remembered mine –
late nights
in the kitchen
or praying to our shadows
tangled on the bed
do your lips
recall a promise
the taste of heaven here
sweet the hallelujah
come to me

does your heart
revert
to beating
as another knew you well
a touch denied
when I was come
a fortune
yet to hold

forever still
the place we love
remains beneath
the cedars
softened by the memory
– as once
we are
again

. . .

beyond the wait ~

courage, grace, life, love, memory, messenger, soul, spirit, time, trust, truth, understanding

when hearths
are warmed
by who we are
beyond the wait
where lanterns sway
beneath an ancient dark
evermore to waste

as time
we could not give
locks already failed
secrets bound together
by the ways
of which we came

had you known
of truths I carried –
a chair beside my bed
a hope
already seated
with my soul
leaving yet to suffer
memory to fill

save for me
a place you love
to love

. . .
