inwould these few
these hours sweet
deny the years between
– adrift upon eternity
waiting on a
dream
would this day
be burdened –
when filled with all I know
suffered thru the coming back
– another time
to go
would these words
be truth enough
to reach beyond all I hold dear –
written as a verse
to keep you near
would the dawn
approach from some great distance
to become
the first I knew
to love you –
have I loved you
all along

blessings, carry me sweetly, closer still, home, life, lifetimes, love, memory, seasons, sometimes, stars, trust, truth
as witness I was
to the place we were started
to a place in the grass
once we lay
crushed by the stars
ten thousand years older –
than once I was your
faraway
once was a dream
you spoke of it often –
gave it a name
I adore
how is it now
I’ve replaced every window
and hung up my heart
by the door
carry me now
think of me sweetly –
as a soft silhouette on the night
saved to a moment
with all we’ve forgotten –
love seeking truth –
in the memory
of light

falling, life, lifetimes, love, returning to find, sometimes, soul, story, time, truth, will, words
will beyond
longing
truth without voice –
souvenirs kept
in a box by the door
heart seeking purpose
in all I’ve begun
lifetimes forsaken –
how many before
same old dreams
same sweet story
beginning an end
was made long ago –
what can I say
forever
I’m falling
tis all that I am
all that I know
. . .

a light on the porch, all I know of living, family, give it up, life. rememberance, lifetimes, longing, love, poet, returning home
for every time
forgotten you
the road between
begun
and counted for my worries
every mile
for cares
I thought it mattered
now it seems I’ve lost my way
returning your
remembrance
as a smile
a verse or two
maybe three or four
as meter met
with rhyme
stories we were telling
on the way
sits the same
an unlined page
fevered fight with time
how few the poet knows
have less to say
places still
my soul recalls
the miracle of pen
as hush before a poem
we appear
crowded vowels rewritten
backward to my hands
words are given voice
tho none can hear

indid you write
of my touch –
in a story one night
did you dream
of these years
worn away
did you swear
every memory
was mine to infer
each promise –
as light
just returning
to day
is my name
but a prayer –
at the end of your life
my heart –
but a place
still to know
do you miss
me sometimes –
do your eyes fill with tears
when reflecting
on moments
let go
don’t let go

for lifetimes
unnoticed
you passed as the breeze
as the song of a sparrow
light through the trees
do you remember
another
tho none can compare
you swore in your leaving
to find me somewhere
with a name
not quite taken
in a place
not too far
from moments we tarried
making love
by the stars

infor every day
another willed
a time where none
are known
a dawn where once
we lingered
not so long
eternity was passed
into the still
of might have been
a sigh against
the nevermore
of skin
a kiss
where words
went willingly –
with promises to claim
a story weaved
from where I fell
when first I heard
your name

breath, divine this, eternity, grace, lifetimes, love, sacred intimacy, said aloud, time, truth
for a time
before
was forever here
as close as breath
to the wind
as near to nothing
everything true –
eternal soul
awakened again
from the way
I came
down some other path
to walk a day
in your sun
to gather strength
as shadows fell
silent ribbons
undone
from the first
I knew
as am knowing now
of a moment
living apart
from the place
where love
remains with me
written somewhere
on my heart
