5 years, blessings, daddy, essential truth, life, love, memory, sometimes, spirit, there is no me without you, time

sometimes
the night feels bitter –
mornings
I can hardly move
the ache comes hard
til I would swear
there is no rest
for truth

but thoughts of you
the ties that bind
sustain a weary soul
such love
it changes everything –
becoming all
I know

beach, eternal sunrise, hope, love, memory, ocean, sea, shore, spirit, stars

I shall wait
in this place –
where worlds fall together
will count every crest as a sigh
adrift on the currents –
of heron and gull
pulled by the wind
mourned
by the tides

I shall breathe in
the essence
of ten thousand stories –
old weathered sailors
long linen sails
I shall watch
from this moment
where nations have crumbled
waiting on love
to prevail

I shall watch
from the dunes
as midday surrenders
as the sun gathers tears
from the sea
drunk from the swirling
of Orion’s cup –
eternity turned
home to me

breath, love, memory, promise, shadows in the hall, silence, spirit, time

I can’t pretend
you make it easy –
how your silence wears me thin
how long –
the time becoming
til I see your face again

it might be years
it could be moments –
or lifetimes still to be
a breath beyond the leaving
is soon enough
for me

a light on the porch, carry me home, forgotten path, journey, life, love, memory, time

the path is worn
as if o’er time –
the way might be erased
tho flowers bloom each Sunday
after all
midnight yearns
and I have learned –
tis not for me to squander
the hope for one more
morning –
wherever promise falls

each time
I think I might be gone
I find the door ajar –
locks once held the windows
rusted now
lights I thought would never burn
stream a golden pasture
echoes ring
remember me –
should e’er your heart
allow

comfort, little river tennessee, lover, memory, mystery, nature, poetry, soul, spirit, trees, wild

would that I know you
as I know the trees –
as a wind rushing warm
from the south
your sigh as of honey
fabled by bees
as solace when words
no longer appease
would that your hands
be as birds coming home
and liquid as water
flowing wild
over stones

everything, home, memory, nothing, proof, souvenirs, story, time, travel, trust, wealth

of moments shared
the count too few –
a route for getting back
runs east to west
and north beyond my view
pages torn
and photos faded
where am I to go
when every shred of evidence
is nothing I can hold
no souvenirs
or passion cleft –
no path we walked along
no proof exists beyond my heart
of love we must have known
can’t change the rules
to resurrect
a life before you came
the girl I was before I learned
the taste that was your name
if e’er a means were garnered
and I with time to prove
how long the waste in seeking
all I know as truth
of stars where darkness
used to be
solace for days between
truth I held when no one knew
how it was
to dream

love, memory, seasons, time, trust, whispers from another shore

do you remember your first
brave walk on the shore
– the rush of a wave
rolling thru

do you remember the sound
of a dove soaring high
– racing the breeze
on a shimmer of blue

do you remember the day
the returning of love
– a lifetime or more
to begin

do you remember the want
a passion to know
– how fleeting the hours
since then

do you remember my name
the taste on your tongue –
a story forsaken
by time

do you remember the way
I willed you to come
do you remember
the ways
you were mine

beauty, breath, life, love, memory, mystery, nature, soul, time, truth

when all I’ve left
is wishes –
a breath of sweeter days
the memory of a star
now burned away
when life is slipped
beyond the reach
of all I cared to dream
will find you there –
a song I dared
to sing
as daylight fades
to sapphire –
hands are folded so
when the earth is hard
every kiss is cold
a whisper
of remember me
shall rest beyond the pines
to fall as dew
each morning –
as snow
come wintertime

choice, do you remember, ghosts, it's what I do, life, love, memory, need, poetry, silence, sometimes, time, when I close my eyes, whispers

in the mellow
afternoon
where you sit
the day alone
fumbling with your papers
with your keys
images replay
every time you close
your eyes
she waits you know
in dreams
whene’er you sleep
just beyond
the memory
of just beyond the trees
music plays
how much louder must
it be
to obscure the loss
erase the cost
how much
before you answer
the silence
of your need

to make it right ~

The_World_Around_You__Crossed_by_pan_feylin

as long as I
this fate shall keep
beholding tears of treason
folded close an ancient
opal cross
burns me still
when gathered near –
with memory of another
a time when as a child
I saw it there
dirty golden chain
never knew
for whom it mattered
or what of crops were sold
to make it right
would beauty give of passion
one season to suspend
all was come
where only truth remains
so lovely in the evening light
near enough to heaven
he’d pull her in
she’d take him home again
one more grace
for letting go –
one more lace undone
sentimental white
in trade for
opal rose
