would that i grieve
the weight of your voice
the warmth of the sun
in your smile
a breeze of breath
recalled to a sigh
moments
where promise we left
wherever tomorrow
remembers me yours
as rain from the roof
falling down
as sunlight spilt
even now by the barn
and carved
through the pines
a careless goodbye
was never intended
the way
turning home
forgotten how sweet
to arrive

infor another day
let us be –
lest some other
breath become
of memories refined
a place beyond the sun
where morning wakes
the night
remits
with destinies to grieve
as one
most surely one
our faults to ease
for another touch
every word
suffers my surrender
no way for getting back
for getting home
come this sweet permission
to take
please take of mine
to spare our love –
the only truth
i know

destiny, fate, for this, heaven here, home, love, meant to be, memory, somewhere the stars
save for me
a moment here –
before the dawn is come
while still
the night birds
flutter to my breast
wait for me
make for me
as once you dreamed
a life
take your name
from off these hungry lips
suffer my confession
was for this
i came to be
across a million tribes
an angry sea
saved for you
made for you
love i won’t forsake
hands to reach
whisper me
to home

inwithin these
lonely hands
once your love
permitted –
flush against my breast
do you remember
how it was
the ways we came
to realize
our love
our lowly purpose
when the sky went dark
was for this
you came around
words
beneath an echo
of wings –
a wilderness
pressed into the tender
of my need
do you remember
how it was
the ways we came –
surrender
the winds have died
but lonely hands
they grieve
. . .

how many words
were wasted
in the rush
to get them down
rhyme i thought would save me
never did
years disturbing pages
awaiting verse
to come
poetry –
i knew you from the start
the way you traded
syllables
passions understood
as story memorized –
please tell me
now
where each pause is fitted
a place to hold
it all
the way to feel
everything –
words before the fall
how was i to recognize
your beat
within my own
rhyme i chose
ten thousand lines
ago
Author’s Note: I may be the poet, but you – you are the poem ❤

despite my
resolution
to keep you arms away
a distant sun –
i couldn’t reach by car
a voice
almost for certain
not quite faded
still i grieve
the sound of your hello –
it doesn’t matter
where you are
i’m tortured
by the notion
you would let me go
this way –
you don’t speak my name
don’t feel the same
some days
despite my sore confession
i don’t love you –
still i do
tis not for me to ever
understand
how it is my heart
remembers
everything
i never said
destiny
i dare not lay to rest
everything you are
to love –
is all i am
. . .

beginning again, life, love, memory, redemption, time, truth
had we time
to make it over
time to do again
what was left
undone
left unsaid
traded for another
life we might have lived
days we might have
passed
sweeter the temptation
to get it right
would earn our trust
take our nights
had we time
again (remember) –
to learn
the way to love
differently somehow
a place of rest
beyond whatever time
and breath
allow

ini’ve no plea
save one more dream
e’er you slept –
was i the star
that made of all
your wishes true –
that found you
here
remember
i’ve no fear –
my everything
is grounded in your
loving arms
the way my ache
became your lips –
as ageless once
this selfless
kiss
i’ve no words
no means to speak
of days before
or years to be
forgiven now
as we begin
the road to build
of memories
