all we've known to love, breath of life, find me, heaven memorized, home, truth

were there years
you thought to find me –
without a way
to know
I waited you
beyond the winter wheat
beyond the wish
became a star –
light beyond the barn
a summer sun
where evermore
was me

. . .

places I’ve forgotten ~

destined to remember, grace, life, love, soul, time

sometimes
my heart is broken
in the time it takes to bleed
for moments
there –
i can’t see the sun
was surely meant
to resurrect
the memory of us –
another chance
the universe is come

to heed again
my softest plea
aches
I cannot say
I miss the night
dreams it leaves behind
to reminisce
on places I’ve forgotten
how to grieve –
weighted now
in love we’ve yet
to find

. . .

wayward constellations ~

graces, home, light, love, promise, remembered us home, stars, truth

had you asked
I might have told –
might have willed my lips
to speak
to whisper of a future
not so far along were we
promise met
with something more –
a universe to save
pressed you to my heart
til I unwillingly
forgave
wayward
constellations
taking comfort with the stars
carved our names
as ancient flames
entrusted
to the dark

eternal, faith, just this once, life, lifetimes, love, memory, soul, spirit, time

coincidence
has taught me well
the tenderness
of falling
sapphire blue horizons
pastures green
language
of another birth
a mother such as mine
carried me
buried me –
stayed the years
between

a sweet terrain
my body still
creates her destiny
abandoned maps
and loves
they couldn’t stay
a faithful moon
grieves alone –
the girl I used to be
forgotten roads
my soul has
worn away

. . .

dreams, gifted, life, love, poetry, skin, sleep, star crossed, time, truth

i am touch
where intention
spilled to the light
flailing as vows
to be heard
a long night beginning
with no easy answers –
let me sleep
with my heart
on your sword

i am graces
neglected –
secrets let be
lifetimes made over
again
let me stay
for a moment
before I am fade
to nothing
but words
on your skin

. . .

only the heart ~

divine intimacy, eternity, faith, life, love, moments where eternity lives, time

there’s a point
where words have no memory
no rush to confess
what was lost
a fire burned out
petals retreat
retuned as a moment
eternity kept
apart from the sinner
devoid the saint
– with only
the heart
to remember

. . .

hallelujah ~

again, home, life, love, memory, sometimes, spirit, trust

have your hands
remembered mine –
late nights
in the kitchen
or praying to our shadows
tangled on the bed
do your lips
recall a promise
the taste of heaven here
sweet the hallelujah
come to me

does your heart
revert
to beating
as another knew you well
a touch denied
when I was come
a fortune
yet to hold

forever still
the place we love
remains beneath
the cedars
softened by the memory
– as once
we are
again

. . .

tell me ~

everywhere I am, grace, life, living a better story, love, places we have loved, reminders of me

when last I dreamed
I lay awake
and wandered unto home
the safe and sweet
embrace
once was you
tell me now
some other time
of who you are
and why
you knew my name
before I thought
to love

. . .

where april bled to may ~

as it is, eternity, light, love, only this, seasons, spring, truth

shall I tell you
of a springtime –
of yellows undefined
hidden meadows
weaved by muscadine
a story still becoming
you were here
and I was saved
held against the tender
fold
where april
bled to may

shall I tell you
how I loved you –
how your want
filled every need
like a window
where my shadows
used to be
with ne’er a thought
to anything
would steal me from this light –
to sever
every memory
of spring

. . .

wherever fates are stored ~

a name upon my lips, all that we keep, carry me sweetly, life, memory from the fall, nature, rain, storms

rivers
where tears began
carried from the fall
fearless as a mountain –
longing
for the sea
resurrected moments
wherever fates are stored –
was here I found
the life you left
for me

it’s not the same
this missing
in places last you loved
a heart where only echoes
now remain
as proof of distant summers
a kiss
for waiting on –
I swear sometimes
all I know
is rain
