divine truth, grace, in another life, love, memory, returning home
twilight falls soft
in shades of remember
charcoal and pitch
as the day
i was born
drifted a ways
with nothing to tether
silences sweet
as a breath
wrapped around
was destiny left
in the arms of a stranger
a night you lay claim
some other to prove
blind to the danger
grievance
in falling ~
unaware of the journey
stars burning
through
gathering moondust
pools on the pasture
shimmering drops
of promise divine
cured of the heartbreak
heaven returning
to save what was waited ~
this moment
to find

08 Tuesday Nov 2022
last i remember
the stars had no names
and a wild endless blue
was your name
on my lips
surrender made do
with the past
it is gone
like a wave built of clouds
where our dreams
linger on
forty
and something more wondrous
than this
than years folded soft
on the night
last i was taken
you found me somehow
out past the waves
where stars
are allowed
pointed
and endless
cradled by blue
– fate
rearranged
by your hands

never worried
for the leaving –
fences broken
(should i care)
for days
beyond the harvest –
without want
to meet us there
no fated
circumstances –
would have me leave
the gate ajar
had i known
you were missing –
i might have wondered
(where you are)
had i slept
beneath the window –
beside a memory of us
washed my sheets
til they surrendered
the world
our dreams (forgot)
nights
became
a bed of whispers –
trading truths
i couldn’t hold
tempted wings
unfurling presence
across the spring
(across the snow)

so much of me
is held between
the first i was
the last
seasons gone
another leaf to press
spinning once
i thought of you
and how it was you came
to render me
forgotten
to the rest
so much of me
was everything
and you
the one denied
oceans
seas
rivers
someone knew
before was i
you waited
my remembrance
of surrender
just this way
leaving every season
to confess
ages fell between
here am i
as once before –
take of me forever
take of me
the rest

eternity now, grace, life, love, remembered home, time, truth, will
had i bravery
to tell you –
confessions still to give
lines i wrote
ten thousand suns ago
planted me a garden
grew with destinies
longing left to bloom –
fated bruise
of memory
had i bravery
to wonder –
how we loved
how we will
so unattached to living
– love divine
devoid of every circumstance
without a star to wish
blossoms carried sweet
beyond the
vine

when once
you were mine
with permission for more
than ever one lifetime
could hold
come back
you forgave me
for times surely gone
live while your love
is still young
wait as i pleaded
another some day
would grant us the grace
of time in this place
allowing my heart
to beat next to yours
wait
and i’ll come back
to find you
stay while my lips
know your name
. . .

another day, by home another way, destiny, grace, heaven here, home, life, love, memory, nature, time
am thankful
for the spaces –
tender places
call me home –
to paths beyond my seeking
didn’t need a map
to know
where you were
e’er you wanted love from me
as grace prepared
another life
another time to be
a pause
within the aching
hands to fit just so
tell me where the story
was gone wrong –
take me back
take me
where the river crowds
the trees –
wait for me a map
draw your memory
to me

story holds
the best of me –
days before you came
counting every
mercy
as goodbye
ferry me
some distance –
had I known you
from the start
years
to shape wonder
into light
touch where
morning lingers
as warmth against
my skin –
let this pleading heart
be satisfied
when age
is counted backward
words beneath
my pen
let me ease
my story
with your sigh

gifted words
a solace immortal –
was a stranger’s voice
the heart of one I know
when lives are lived
indifference
spawns a world of second starts
wherever i am born
was in your arms
i died before
some other time
as longing spent
i promised to return
a whisper buried deep
beneath the bone
let me be
forgiven –
i never meant to go
allowing for a moment
not yet claimed –
words become
a memory –
love I’ve yet to squander
a heart that holds
directions home
my promised
evermore
