inhowever long
forever
saved itself for thee
to learn again
the depths
where love was fated
come for me
and i for you
i for this
when years were long
and cold
i dreamed beyond
the reach of dreams –
beyond the weight
of woe
lest prayers revive
the wonder
of more than once
enough
time is resurrected
by a promise
left to love
. . .

inthought i once
the path was gone
every fence torn down
could barely see
the meadow
for the trees
nights i took for granted
stars that used
to shine
shooting re-reminders
of a wish
i made
one time
another life
we fit together
gave of breath to know
the ways that we would come
with moments yet
to hold
years to grant
gathered as a promise
once we made
would find us here
remembering
the wish we left
to fate

inforgive the past
to rattle
pages loosed by time
words i dare not worry
lest i grieve
the path i took
to find you –
love we came to be
one night i saw
you there
beyond the trees
when morning
you awakened
to understand my ways
how many tears
this longing to appease –
for this
the hand
that holds my heart
the lips that warm
my name
a summer dream
surrendered you
to me
. . .
23 Tuesday May 2023
whatever words
you hold of mine
suffering to bear
confessions of a saint
– deepest praise
recompense
for shadows –
dancing on the wall
whispers of surrender
falling now
verse to bind
rhyme to waste –
the place
where love begins
witness to a sigh –
breath becoming
skin
whatever words
you keep of mine –
whatever fate is come
stretched to span
eternity –
saved for us
the one
. . .
18 Thursday May 2023
sacred divine
moments made over
left with a note
by the gate
tell me again
how long you are leaving
how near
to returning
this missing of late
like promise
made real
as everything
somewhere
out past the creek
rolling in green
remember me now
a vow of surrender
aligned me with stars
with wishes unseen
caught in my hair
do you remember
me now
some sacred divine
with permission
to stay
a lifetime to prove
as a matter of fate
write me a letter
tell me a story
how long are you leaving
how much more
shall i wait
. . .

destiny, fate, for this, heaven here, home, love, meant to be, memory, somewhere the stars
save for me
a moment here –
before the dawn is come
while still
the night birds
flutter to my breast
wait for me
make for me
as once you dreamed
a life
take your name
from off these hungry lips
suffer my confession
was for this
i came to be
across a million tribes
an angry sea
saved for you
made for you
love i won’t forsake
hands to reach
whisper me
to home
. . .

in the silence
before you spoke my name
the first
the last
my only
did remembrance
fall softer than concern
to the ways for getting back
for getting over
in the lonely
before i took your hand
did you understand
i didn’t
never could
be made to see
how sweet the every day
the many ways
you came
to love me
in the silence
before you spoke –
before you spoke
my name
. . .

inhad i vision then
to comprehend
the magic
you would bring
how sweet the peace
perfected by your smile
had i known
you would be everything
every sunrise
every mile
would make for me
another life
beyond this one –
beyond the fate
i traded
long ago
had i known of you
known of us –
another spring to keep
stories yet unfolding
dreams beyond
my sleep
