to make it over
time to do again
what was left
undone
left unsaid
traded for another
life we might have lived
days we might have
passed
sweeter the temptation
to get it right
would earn our trust
take our nights
had we time
again (remember) –
to learn
the way to love
differently somehow
a place of rest
beyond whatever time
and breath
allow

your story –
will to understand
the ways you came
ten thousand lives
to find
missing you
was all i knew
the map that bears your soul –
destinies rewritten
to get me back
this time

save me this
these places –
uncertain where to start
fates converged
to stretch
beyond the blue
save for me
this evermore
as promised yet to none
the stars beyond –
another jealous
moon

i’ve no plea
save one more dream
e’er you slept –
was i the star
that made of all
your wishes true –
that found you
here
remember

i’ve no fear –
my everything
is grounded in your
loving arms
the way my ache
became your lips –
as ageless once
this selfless
kiss

i’ve no words
no means to speak
of days before
or years to be
forgiven now
as we begin
the road to build
of memories

wherever this
some tuesday morn
before the sun arrives
an echoing of engines
in the night
a ways beyond
the coming back
to find our place anew
a flood of stars –
wishes
falling through

wherever this
may take us –
a world beyond the pines
some distant sea
dreamed in sapphire blue
miles before
the lay me down –
what would you have me choose
when all
my heart remembers
is a wish
returned
by you

long neglected –
choice to resurrect
a promise made
another day to find
whatever fate
was guided
by permission to arrive
was worth the way
deserted –
in my haste
to make you mine

for every moment
traded
dreams i let to dry
fields allowed to wither
in the sun
paths no longer open
covered disbelief
a night denied
the stars –
i knew you then

last i remember
a red sky was falling –
blue had run out
on the day
dreams were allowing
access for mercy –
love had come home
with reason
to stay
like there was never another
we thought about leaving
took down the curtains
and buried the bed
out past the pasture
jesus was witness
to a feeling we dared
believe
wasn’t dead
heaven made plans
to sleep in for breakfast
when i found you there
at the edge of the woods
looking for signs
to stay
to remember
wanting for love
in arms
understood

what solace
recollection –
when all i know
is you
what good the past
for teaching me goodbye
time is a survivor
how it was
to touch your skin –
sorrows without want
to reach me then
what good
the way returning
when all the trees are bare
blossoms floating down
silhouettes
silence sworn
to save me –
was here we fell in love
days becoming days
becoming years
the memory
of another time –
black and white of
yesterdays
words where once
your touch
knew everything
