today
I thought of you
as tender eyes
met mine
and another
other muttered
her clothes never match
houndstooth
and leopard
aging westerns
leathers
the color of clay
a faint memory
of loving refrain
silver and shocking
how one can remember
the taste
of november
long past the rain

. . .

glory arose ~

stay

where today
in your wandering ways
have you noticed
the color
of light –
blue as a blossoming
glory arose
to stand in the path
beside your
highway
come as a message
written to love
pressed between pages
once you were here
leaning together
another became

seeds
before heaven
we bloomed

. . .

relearning me ~

how easy this
when life for trade
an almost then
repeated now
chorus
thrilling
who could know
the ways we came
to finding all –
a moment
ever
letting go

was I remiss
to mention
the starlight in your eyes
rows of constellations
on the night
drew me in –
reminders
of a truth I held within
returning me
relearning me
remembers me
again

. . .

graces
oft enfold me
as silken wing
to flame
between the stars
where night
has gone –
with destinies
to claim

remembered
home –
as dreamed I cleft
the sinner
from the sin –
another me
unknowing pens
the place
we are again

fluttering
as truth to word
lines unfit
my soul to rhyme
ages
I have wandered here –
beyond
the reach
of time

. . .

of moments made
a fragile bit
of all might I remain
whispers warming soft
on silent lips
secrets folded
thrice again –
beyond the reach of tears
beyond the day
awakening begins
with names
they never called us by
places blurred to ink
a road
or two –
and loves we swore
to give ourselves unto
stars were crossed –
lifetimes lost
truths
we can’t undo
morning waits –
ten thousand shades
of blue

dreamy

solace
wears a mask of grief
home – a time began
where reaching back
too often
I am found
mesmerized by everything
let my soul embrace
the tender touch
no matter now
how brief

sorrow
knows of other times
of joys
too big
my heart to spare
of wonders
we shall know again –
bliss (o sweet)
forever shared

evening
sits in shadow
where once the morning
sun
was burned
love remains
the proof of life –
beyond the still
a moment
yearned

. . .

night to song ~

wing’eds
split a southern sky
black as night
to song
silken grey
of worlds beyond
our one
northern hearts
invaded
by restlessness
for home –
sorrows
echoed back
across the dawn

. . .

all I need ~

had e’er I known
but one desire
to barter sin for sin
awash in ash
would scrub me clean
again
rings of counting
now and none
years –
a tender stone
is wrapped within
each memory
all I need
of home

. . .

hands I know by heart ~

years are gathered
unto me –
til I can’t breathe
the night
or see beyond
another crimson dawn
where I have come
repenting
for days (these miles)
between
hands I know by heart
(let them pray)
for memories –
some other life
(where I have loved
you well)
where silence waits
to steal my heart
from sleep

homereturning

between
the place
where truth recalled –
fingers trace
forever
worlds beyond
the weary reach of fate
folds
and constellations
secrets
made to share
endearing me

a lifetime –
but a kiss

a sigh
the same as music
was calling me to home
warmth
I knew –
you’d change
the locks
one day
rusted rhyme
to silence me –
adapts a knowing smile
of pastures walked
in step with you
beside

a night before
eternities to miss
