I’ve not the strength
to question
or the will
to quite let go ~
patience of a sinner
or a saint
without the faith
for moving
not much
stands in my way
just a trust
to know
tomorrow
won’t be the same

forgiveness, healing, jealous moon, learning, life, love, solace, ties that bind, touch, truth, words
I hated you
I hated me
places we were one
the way my body
listened –
times I should have run
wrapped in my uncertainty
injured by your words
I hated you
I hated me
as every dream unfurled
pages lost to pages
ink spilt blue
black
how may times
a window there –
while I was looking back
hopeful for another
prepared for one more
fight –
a jealous moon
I hated you
for finding me
each night

beautiful weakness, broken, checkmate, learning, life, love, mystery, okay is far from happy, scars, strength, trust, truth, vulnerable intimacy
gift me
with your darkness
shadows where you live
stories you’ve forgotten
how to tell
wherever you are missing
I shall give the same –
beauty in the fracture
hurts I cover
well
trust these arms
to fold you –
I can bear it all
swim within the ocean
of my tears –
honor me the presence
of your fall

when I’ve forgotten
how it was –
to want for something more
when years are passed
will I no longer
wait along
your shore
when I’ve forgotten
everything –
I thought I knew of love
will then I write
the same as I do now
of verses
met with kisses –
scars where touch was burned
dreams I lived
with evermore to learn
the ways of you
the ways of us –
embers to ignite
a blue I can’t remember –
stars betrayed
to life

inI’ve lost track
and recollection
of where I left my keys –
and just last night
I realized I’d forgotten
how to dream
so much
we’ve forsaken
is remembered not the same
the winds are turning
but they still know
my name
I listen for the nightbirds –
so much sweeter than the news
reminding me of other times
and how it hurts to lose
everything I surely needed
like those keys
like my heart
like places we’ve forgotten
how to start

incomes a time
pressed into
the memory of leaving
names and places
thought erased
by getting on –
by dying
from moments
unrepentant
truth returns another lie
trust was once
so easy –
now denied
words succumb
to silence
an echoed I love you
whispers
as the morning wakes –
to beckon me anew

I am breath
against the branches
light across the green
ten thousand other mornings
save for thee
I am waves
upon the water –
tiny shells beneath your feet
warmth that keeps a memory
of home
I am the first you know
before your dreams
are slipped beyond your sleep
a sigh that bears the name
of destiny
I am the reason
you’ve forgotten –
as a nightbird
I will sing
of blues you only dreamed
remember me

blessing, home, learning, life, love, nature, remembering, seeing in the dark, spirit, truth, words
it’s not so brutal
to remember –
not a distance yet to go
I close my eyes
and for a moment –
all I’ve loved
is all I know
it’s not the dream
that keeps me dreaming –
nor a prayer
when I’m alone
it’s not the days
I know will dwindle
til the stars
recall me home
something more
is meant for sharing
something I forgot to tell
how the mountains
sense our pleasure –
higher still
when loved we
well
