what was left
of the creek
has turned into dust
(was here
i once held up the night)
was right here
beside you
covered with dew
assessing the stars
(wishes in flight)
was heaven this close
(i scarce can recall)
how sweet was your love
on my skin –
venus made nest
in a handful of curls
words seeking silence
again
(and again)
tell me once more
how swiftly the waves
to carry us far
from this place where we lay
how cool were
the oceans –
(created from dust)
to hold what was left
(to the story)
of us

. . .

across and back this everafter ~

another me, life, love, memory, nature, poetry, seasons, soul, spirit, time, touch

had i nothing
but one more ache –
another poem come of this
ashes swirl beyond the meadow
leaves returning
a golden bliss

silence fills
an almost whisper
breezes brush the tallest pines
remembered not
to indecision –
other worlds where stars align

bid me go
or let me linger –
will this earthly heart to slow
across and back
this everafter –
is home to every
love i’ve known

. . .

hands that knew you well ~

closer to heaven than the stars, life, love, lovers, memory, soul, time, touch

i begged my heart
surrender
to the absolute of time
nights without you
cradled in my arms
i bartered peace
a place
would lay me down
to let you go
years before your soul
remembered mine

verses fall
weary
from hands
that knew you well –
curtains float
as whispers to the breeze
all i have
is no more than a store
of yesterdays
a season uninvited
silver cords
and silent pleas

. . .

could be ~

could be
all i need
is forever to surrender
another dawn
to rise
within your arms

could be
all i need
is a way
for getting over
eternity to wash
ash to snow

could be
all i need
is a sigh beneath
my shiver
breath upon the fire
i made my home

evidence, live, love, poetry, sometimes, tears, time, touch

verse remains
to fill my days
mornings
without you
evidence of movement
to grieve the weight
of touch

another time
what value this
the trade
the rub
the reason
stories laid
beneath the lands
you love

. . .

the right to feel ~

grace, hands, life, love, memory, skin, soul, stoy, touch, understanding

these hands
have nurtured promise
and still
they let you go –
were not a lack
of privilege
to love you so
garnered fate –
feared your heart
might change the weight
of life –
prayed when there was
nothing
to defend
these hands
they’ve earned
the right to feel –
graced
a tender land
yearned for one last
mystery
with grace to
understand
you were mine
and I was here –
who shall write the rest
caught within your
wishes –
warmed beneath
your breath

. . .

places we were one ~

I hated you
I hated me
places we were one
the way my body
listened –
times I should have run
wrapped in my uncertainty
injured by your words
I hated you
I hated me
as every dream unfurled
pages lost to pages
ink spilt blue
black
how may times
a window there –
while I was looking back
hopeful for another
prepared for one more
fight –
a jealous moon
I hated you
for finding me
each night

kiss, life, love, memory, poetry, surrender, touch, words, writing in the dark

the truth
is written somewhere
tucked amid the rhyme
memories –
watered down by time

the ease
of barely touching
skin erasing skin –
a tender kiss
remembers me
again

whatever this surrender
tis a life
I put behind –
purple fields
and poetry
swimming in your eyes

sometimes
I wake
within a dream
within the dream we made –
searching in the dark
to find a page

. . .

blessings, grace, home, life, love, moments, morning, spirit, time, touch, truth

morning
comes slow
anxious the dawn
as light
pouring touch
from the night
how can I know
what ghosts
linger there –
distant horizons
await my retreat
a place where light
has no memory
of time –
a pause between kisses
as breath before
dawn

. . .

nothing but your silence ~

had I nothing
but your silence
your warmth within the night
I’d worry not for water
deny my need for more
than your breath
where I am hungry –
words where I
have none
