courage, heaven here, home, life, love, memory, nature, time, wandering

you are river
and I the mountains –
carved a place
of silk and stone
memory
of rain and ocean
miles behind –
forever home

as one way back
and one way forward –
pristine valleys
canyons deep
as once the night
have you forgotten –
we bound a star
this wish to keep

you are forest
and I the meadow
wrapped in summer
tho winter lies
beneath our feet –
it snows a river
oceans melt
to fill the sky

a jealous moon, circle of life, gifts of grace, intimacy, love, mystery, nature, spirit, story, time, wandering, want

I will search
on fertile banks
where marigold is nestled
startled by the rivers
loyalty

I shall reach
for tiny crescents
buried by the sand –
in broken trusts
twisted with my hair
I will wait
as I have waited
for the time
to find you there

did I tell you once
of paths I roamed
unknowing
with a dream
suffered want unholy
to dream again –
I shall wait

as nights
beyond the wandering
in places
I have feared
in afternoons
where sunlight comes
to play

there’s truth
we scarce consider –
and one we dare not speak
a normal found
in courage lost –
a darkness not so deep

I’ve kept my word
in seeking –
for a path I knew before
hearts undone
by telling –
a truth I waited for

sometimes
the dream falls open –
as I wander with the night
beyond the risk of losing –
to a place of love
and light

when tempted I
by sorrows
for every hurt embraced –
moments of surrender
turn my wanting
into grace

look for me here_edited

would that you knew me
one night on the run –
out past the place fences
were strung
out past the memory
of all we’ve become –
tis a place
you knew me this way

as light
through a bonnet of cedar
and vine –
beckoning planets
the color of jade
bound us together
beyond what was lost –
tears fell a river
of rain

ribbons and lace
the burden of grace –
cigarettes burned down
the barn
dare my assumption
for all I held dear –
as near to my heart
once the stars

memories

as the essence
of remember
floating golden thru the trees –
fingers reach beyond
the midday sun
fumbling with moments
love forgot to say –
sunlight swirls
in feeling just begun

silence wraps
the weary heart –
promise wears us down
with memory of places
yet to be
quiet proves a slow refrain
of stories never told –
verses fall
into the years
between

musings o’er the reasons
and wondering
the pause –
what of life and where
the leaves are blown
swept on dreams repented
by the way we hold the words
bittersweet –
the flight of love
unknown

age, blessings, lessons, life, love, seasons, time, truth, wandering, where was I remembered, wondering

rememberthis

for longer
than I dared allow
a whisper claims my sleep
an echo of my longing –
silent chords

branches bang the shutters
as quietly I creep
cold these native feet
upon the boards

searching out
the answers
where my love remains
stories of the coming back
to wonder why we came

shadows dance
a drunken waltz
of lives before I woke –
days and dreams returning
for my name

forgotten our place, home, love, mystery, nature, remembering, sometime, the cycle of life, the cycle of love, time, wandering, wilderness

mystery

of moments
some forgotten
I’ve wandered back again
how well I knew
and others knew of me
maps spilled together
into another place and time
markers melted
candle wax
and rhyme

roads beyond
the wilderness
I passed between beside
rivers long since gathered
by the tides
mountains thick with laurel
surrendered now to weeds
did once I pass
without a word
a fluttering unseen

between two worlds
are maybe more –
than I with will to count
days no longer matter
to the making
of one last kiss
a first embrace –
a shadow born of thunder
rain – a lover taken
back again

howcouldyouknow

now and then
I dare remember
all I wanted from the start
a beginning
without ending
a quiet flutter of my heart

it seemed so simple
in the wishing –
one night beneath the stars
as I stood atop the rafters
flanked by jupiter
and mars

without names
or constellation –
but a time to find again
someone come
at once familiar –
warm as blood
beneath my skin

for a moment
I did wonder
of the nights
to pass between
drawing near unto forever –
as a destiny unseen

by a girl
not so different
than ten thousand more
you’ve known
born of want –
another summer
when you made a wish
your own

home

from time to time
the stars align
and I wonder what we had in mind
when we wished aloud
some other day
on lights burned out
along the way

sweetlythis

he spoke
of distant mornings
(a light she strained to see)
she wrote
of lowly purpose
filled with love
(and mystery)

he listened
as she listened
they talked
(and talked some more)
of the road
they passed together
another way
(sometime) before

he spoke
of ancient winters
(a field where brothers fell)
she spoke
in careful whispers
of a loss
she grieved (as well)

he cried
and she was tender
(in the catching of each tear)
she reached
to find him (waiting)
(with want
to have her) near

he stayed
(beyond the leaving)
lest she ever think
him gone
as she woke
beyond the darkness
a star
(for wishing on)
