alzheimers, breath, easy, here, memory, still, time, we begin, wondering

how much of me
still wonders
at this place
we’ve come to be
how many years –
miles
we put behind
how much will i remember
when my days
are all but done
will i recall the light
found burning
in your eyes
remember me
this destiny
when all the rest are gone
fields of ash
winter wheat mistaken
let for this
another grieve
how i loved you so
saved my heart
from wondering
for long

memory of light ~

life, love, memory of light, tenderness, truth, what matters, wondering

for dreams
i’ve forgotten
years i thought would slow
to wonder how love is
and why we came
suffice to fill a lifetime
with moments more
than this –
a million words
made sacred
by your flame

lest i spend
the ways that mattered
hands that fit
just so –
leagues beyond
the reach of golden strands
pasture i’ve neglected
lay me down
again
guardian of stars
this tender land

you will know
as i have known you
feel
as i can feel
what was come
and what i gave
to have you here
when there is nothing
to surrender –
no memory of light
pages turned
til every rhyme
is clear

save the ways we were
one night
– when every cloud was dust
remember this forever
remember us –
a part of every truth
we dared declare
when nights are
painted golden –
dreams live
everywhere

another thousand miles ~

life, love, mystery, seasons, sometimes, time, truths, wondering

I’m certain
there’s a place
you can’t reach
inside my soul –
another thousand miles
beyond your touch
a story not yet traded
for somewhere we begin –
destiny or fate
not soon enough

I drew a map one Friday
and left before the sun
could gather up your dreams
to make them mine
before my heart remembered
all the ways
you fit me well
how much of me
is traces left behind

for every truth
some mystery –
to ease the days between
moments yet to ponder
why we came
for every start
where evermore has written
us more time –
seasons pass
doubts are rolled away

. . .

loosen every season
on all we’re meant to find
– another life
beyond this sweet refrain
let me rest
against your heart
and wake within your dream
move my soul
to wonder
why we came

pacify my longing
share with me
your breath –
linger
lest your touch
become my own
wrap your love
around me –
whisper soft my fate
gather me to memories
of home

laura_by_laura_makabresku_dao9t1m-fullview

what place do I keep
in your memory –
what corner mine
of your heart
are there windows there
overlooking your life
– a garden
we dreamed
in the night

do you wonder sometimes
to the way we became –
paths never journeyed before
– how the warmth
of your hand
seem fitted for mine
as love seeking reason
for more

are there days
recollected –
with sun in your eyes
light through a window
where shadows
became
the difference in living
as silence recalls –
a memory tethered
by name

forever

when first you knew
to touch me here
I was helpless
to resist
did you realize
when you closed my eyes
as barter
for a kiss
did you name the stars
for nights like this
or wonder
for lives between
renewed to find
the way we came –
to be
what love would be

age, blessings, lessons, life, love, seasons, time, truth, wandering, where was I remembered, wondering

rememberthis

for longer
than I dared allow
a whisper claims my sleep
an echo of my longing –
silent chords

branches bang the shutters
as quietly I creep
cold these native feet
upon the boards

searching out
the answers
where my love remains
stories of the coming back
to wonder why we came

shadows dance
a drunken waltz
of lives before I woke –
days and dreams returning
for my name

rememberthis

how it was
you found me –
a vine within the stone
a path you’ve suffered often
to where all sorrow goes
you wonder
as I’ve wondered
you curse sometimes the way
when night surrounds me weeping
I wonder why you stayed
to see me safe
to chart my course
so different from the rest
who were you
when I was lost
in grief beyond myself
to darkness forged of longing
question born of sighs
where I was
to wander back to you
mountains beneath mountains
rivers deep and wide
swept me to the ocean
to sands
by loss denied –
to find me whole
some other day
when I am yours again
to fill the winds
with mystery
at the mention of your name

years too short ~

centerhill_nov18

as once I knew
this time would be
as years too short
would circle round
from days
tho long
no longer count
I wonder still
what I shall miss
when words o mine
for none exist

for one more april
shower sweet
another warm july
will tears befall
when leaving comes
for one more this
the rest undone
as lips grown silent
wait again
the taste of wine –
of summer sun

warming verse
upon my brow
love
where love began
what future place
awaits me now
each dream –
a time
by time displaced
for one more
one more everything
another life
by moments held
somewhere filled
by years the same
as these

I feel are passing
a fleeting bliss
how much of all
I love will miss
the warmest tide
against my feet
a blanket spread
of stars

a hand
so certain
thread with mine
another dream
some other
time

I’ve no illusions
fleeting or other –
no last consolation
to a prize
never mine

I am the truth
unchanged by admission
words without reason
lines
never mine

Time is for(giving)
of places I wonder
how much I’ve forgotten
of a dream
never mine
