alzheimers, breath, easy, here, memory, still, time, we begin, wondering

how much of me
still wonders
at this place
we’ve come to be
how many years –
miles
we put behind
how much will i remember
when my days
are all but done
will i recall the light
found burning
in your eyes
remember me
this destiny
when all the rest are gone
fields of ash
winter wheat mistaken
let for this
another grieve
how i loved you so
saved my heart
from wondering
for long

. . .

echoes ~

home, life, love, poet, still, the way, trust, verses

remembered this
from somewhere
once before
longer still
my ache when shadows
warm the place
i am
a fragrant kiss
foretelling
of the ways i’d come to hate
nights to pass the miles
from sleep to dream
gathered up
in trinkets –
nurtured by my lust –
cursing of
another time
was nothing left
of us
save for these
reminders
we were here
and i was home –
lifetimes tracing echoes
of me now

age, life, love, nearness, seasons, sometimes, still, time

years
have gathered
to the edge of goodbye
taking of me
everything
i wait
as i ponder
who is left
and what they know
will there be
a night
they wonder
to the one
who loved them
so

. . .

forever this ~

age, forever this, grace, love, memory, promise, seasons, sometimes, still, time, years

when once
you were mine
with permission for more
than ever one lifetime
could hold
come back
you forgave me
for times surely gone
live while your love
is still young
wait as i pleaded
another some day
would grant us the grace
of time in this place
allowing my heart
to beat next to yours
wait
and i’ll come back
to find you
stay while my lips
know your name

almost always, grace, life, love, poetry, still, trade for more, words

had i wishes
yet to squander
graces
mine to give
smiles without a reason
to concede
kisses left for ransom
give and give some more
half the cost of letting go
was every sigh
between
the place we fell
fate for trade
when nothing more was come
grief to stain my pillow
dig the hole
fill my heart with daggers
words i wanted back
to ease the hunger
building
in my soul

. . .

the eve of forever ~

eternity, head, heart, life, listen, love, sometimes, soul, still, time

my head has no say
in these things that I keep
the touch I allow
when the night
falls to sleep
when night birds are restless
I feel with my heart
every sigh
for repeating –
tis a place
where we start
at the eve of forever
where again
we are new
my head has no say
when reaching
for you
my heart still remembers
what my head
can’t recall –
how we loved
past the season
once was ours
once was all

. . .

as you were dreaming ~

dreams, grace, journey, love, memory, ocean, salvation, still, stories

i wonder how it is
i know
to breathe the same
air where
oceans settled
over memory and slate
blue has found
redemption
in a softer shade of grace
i recall sometimes
your eyes
as you were dreaming
shores where once I carried you
away

. . .

predictions of a jealous moon ~

getting used to the missing, grace, love, sometimes, still, time, truth

sometimes
i get busy
sometimes a day
or maybe two
pass before
i realize
i’m missing thoughts
of you

there’s been no change
in weather –
predictions
of a jealous moon
moved to retribution
by shadows come
to bloom

the sun has dipped
beyond the trees
where even now –
twilight glows
as fear
remit by silence –
grace
in letting go

. . .

stars we counted on ~

birth of eternity, knowing, light, love, lovers, silence, stars, still

we were lanterns
caught in webs –
sparkled
with the dew
a righteous moon
made jealous
by the dawn
flames where wishes
landed –
near to places
once we lay
silence
falling stars
we counted on

we were sparks
within the heavens –
seeking love
we would
become

. . .

worlds not yet discovered ~

easy, poet, poetry, resurrection, still, time, truth, where I am found, words

let me be
let me write
of worlds not yet
discovered –
light where none exists
but for your eyes
let me see
eternity
is not so much
to barter
time is an illusion
let me wake
within the hush
of presence
moonlight haunting skin
let me fall
let me breathe
of worlds
where I am
found
