a bumble bee or wasp
the smile to break apart
against your sigh
ancient recognition
warmth exceeding warmth
a feeble cry
braced against the night
were that I
the best of times
the truth in all you know
a tattoo of my need
to match your own
every kiss
the taste of me
muscadine and flame
rivers
cold and reckless
remember me
the same

restless comes
when nights are cold
habits cling
as proof of something
strong enough
my heart
to slow

life is changed
and for a season –
shadows shift
to block the sun
planets drift beyond
my reaching –
as longing waits
the end
for none

who shall know
of living wasted –
of mercies left
with time
to spend
remnants
from another
mother –
when love was chance
to love again

a weathered porch
life beyond
the reach of wars
beyond the lights
that grieve our stars
and curse the moon
for rising

memory met

stored to cold
my pillow waits –
another time
a chance for taking
as heart to hand

reallyme

from this place
of reverence –
a breath recalled anew
each taking back –
to somewhere just beyond
the depth
from which emotions rise –
a prayer I know by heart
reminders of each truth
I lingered on

forsaken to remembrance
as distance falls away –
ferried out across
a boundless sea
to a home
that suits my longing –
grace when I am lost
– love returns
with strength
to carry me
