e’er i decide
some solace to take
in a memory
ten thousand lives old
in the crush
of winters
pressed to my heat
a fire burning
still
where my heart
used to be
. . .

were for this
my final grace –
I held my breath
and waited
the passing down
of consequence –
falling on my knees
wanting for another place
silently to fill
lungs no longer thirsty
for the light
every best
intention
as yet tho not enough –
to starve the flame
where destiny is moored
for this
a prayer is given
without worry
for the cost –
the taking back of heaven
– dreams
I’m fondest of
a hero when the story
fell apart –
come for this
a morning more
to rise
. . .

come to me
to the fringe of dusk
when all I’ve known
is the way
to you –
where ne’er regret
is welcomed –
the velvet of his brow
his penchant
to distract
from all that matters
now
come to me
lay with me –
beneath a sky of ancients
lovers undecided
every one
breathe in me your story
grant my heart
the map –
faded lines
let these fingers bleed
come to me
a memory
come to me afraid
as proof of my good fortune
you might be
near as dawn approaches
with but a sigh
between
the shadow where you waited
come to me
. . .

how do i get home
to the place
where we began
the lines are down
and i can’t see
the stars
was yesterday
we journeyed
not so far
along this path
e’en now the blooms
are breaking
for memories we traded
another mile
maybe three or four
til i am in your arms
i swear the moon
has come
to light my way

confession is
a gentle ghost –
warmed against my lips
a name
no longer tasted
but for nurture
of a lie
what worries
have I witnessed
what threats to tenderness
angry words
a sinner cast aside
I cannot breathe
I will not leave
the best of me
behind
chastened for the want
of paradise

05 Wednesday Jan 2022

secreted away
as the eldest daughter
of a favored son
a will that gave
away the farm
was never mine to give
how much of these
were pardon
for the ways I am
with you
how much I gave
without a thought
of all there was
to lose
morning sits
beyond the frost
as sure is warmth
to come
carried by
the wondering of
who was I before
a sideways glance
to alter fate
a cloud to hide
the moon
more than this
as heaven here –
evidence
of truth

save for me
some faraway
not yet given name
a spark beyond
the cedars
a wolf’s lone cry
pages where
there never were
hands recalling hands
leaves are falling
I believe
our place
is not so
far

03 Monday Jan 2022

a chill runs deep
as does my love
who
will understand
for every path
another was to claim
years of waiting
worried sick
the sky was soon
to fall
reason come –
carried by
the light
there are rivers
crushed
beneath the snow
tears
I thought were dried
– no way to prove
the way to home
was you
. . .

a hand to hold, a name upon my lips, always we begin, belonging to none, home, life, love the only truth, story

for moments
unaccounted –
a lifeline strung along
love awaited
past pretension
not to worry
at your wrongs –
your ways
a plea becoming
words I wait
the night to hear
touch I crave
this one and
only –
you were come
and love was here
in the cool
beneath my pillow
shadows
folded into dawn
moments
time became
illusion
when your touch
became
my song

could be
all i need
is forever to surrender
another dawn
to rise
within your arms
could be
all i need
is a way
for getting over
eternity to wash
ash to snow
could be
all i need
is a sigh beneath
my shiver
breath upon the fire
i made my home
