e’er i decide
some solace to take
in a memory
ten thousand lives old
in the crush
of winters
pressed to my heat
a fire burning
still
where my heart
used to be

03 Monday Jan 2022
a chill runs deep
as does my love
who
will understand
for every path
another was to claim
years of waiting
worried sick
the sky was soon
to fall
reason come –
carried by
the light
there are rivers
crushed
beneath the snow
tears
I thought were dried
– no way to prove
the way to home
was you
. . .

forever
I’m bound
to the promise
of winter
a breeze where
November now sleeps
caught a whirlwind
of scarlet embraces
wishes
leaves
as the sun
turned around
a pause in becoming
light through
the branches
a stutter
of breath remembers
me why
billions of years
save one
I am holding –
recalled every time
I was found
. . .
11 Sunday Jul 2021
age is suited
perfectly
to take the last of me –
a willing breath
wreaks of summertime
memories of all
everything
I came to find
pieces stitched together
let undone
who will notice
who will claim
mercies more than doubt
of days before
the end was known –
places dreamed about
who shall mourn
as nights grow long –
the pastures dressed
in snow
who will speak my name
aloud –
when the ground is
hard and cold
. . .

I asked you once to come –
when winter was melted
as petals pushed forward
to remember
the home
I described for you
in the silver convergence
of dreams
I asked you come
to stay beyond
leaving
one more time
to hold me together
through another
letting go
I asked you to come
but now –
recalling
has lessened the reasons
for wanting you here
when spring
is returning
– and the winter
so fond in remembrance
has left me
to go
where once I begged you
to come
. . .

was a time
I might have fretted –
December days
without a call
a moment of concession
longing miles –
none at all
with a whisper of
remember me
another place
where time began
how funny now
my grieving weighs
each start to start again
January soon will pass
within a numbered
swell of tides
to ease the ache
of missing –
a voice
where love
abides

for another day
a lifetime rent –
for wishes undenied
one last kiss –
one verse upon my brow
too many more
than I endured
to save for any less –
the way I came
much sweeter than before
I only dreamed
to finish here –
until the dying came
until my waiting freed
one more goodbye
– will then I dare
remembrance
of things I might have changed
had winter passed
with not so harsh
a claim

12 Monday Nov 2018
how long I’ve spent
in looking back
to a place just out of view
to years before
I counted –
a time before I knew
of light
by shadows mingled
lanterns along my spine
wonder held in boxes
– for a moment
all was mine
as stardust into
wishes –
a promise yet to keep
snow became a lover
– dreamed me back
to sleep

inwhat willing spring
shall flutter
as leaves into a stream
to take away
the chill that wears my bones
what blossom
yet imagined
is tempted from the seed
to right the window sill
inside my home
what memory
shall warm me –
as places I have known
a breath of everything I love
when all the rest are gone
