my final grace –
I held my breath
and waited
the passing down
of consequence –
falling on my knees
wanting for another place
silently to fill
lungs no longer thirsty
for the light

every best
intention
as yet tho not enough –
to starve the flame
where destiny is moored
for this
a prayer is given
without worry
for the cost –
the taking back of heaven
– dreams
I’m fondest of

a hero when the story
fell apart –
come for this
a morning more
to rise

tis not for earth
a pound of stone –
a place to lay me down
cold beyond the memory
of your kiss

was not for solace
a soul returned –
come to bring me home
no heaven I remember
more than this

paints a picture
with colors still I bleed
crimson red raspberry
melon sweet
harbingers
of stories rent
lessons yet to learn
lives are reconstructed
over tea

promise
I was sworn to keep
with words
forgotten now
whispers of a truth
I put away
are breathed anew each morning
and folded into rhyme –
evermore to spend
another day

moments
gather silent
in dust beneath my bed
circles to the table
souvenirs
of seasons
unremembered
before I knew your name –
lives I traded
just to find you here

I took solace
in the coming back
to find another way –
a path where none existed
where I lingered
yesterday

I took pleasure
in returning –
to every place I loved before
volumes stacked beneath
the branches
verses scattered
to the floor

I took comfort
with each passing
every life and every stone
dusty fields –
a path forsaken
where flowers bloom
for love atoned

and promise lives unspoken
love remains
though silent now its verse
