forgotten

would these few
these hours sweet
deny the years between
– adrift upon eternity
waiting on a
dream

would this day
be burdened –
when filled with all I know
suffered thru the coming back

– another time
to go

would these words
be truth enough
to reach beyond all I hold dear –
written as a verse
to keep you near

would the dawn
approach from some great distance
to become
the first I knew
to love you –

have I loved you
all along

I’ll tell the story
with words
you once knew –
of the ways I have journeyed
on my way
back to you

I’ll tell
of secrets
we shared with the stars –
of lonely surrendered
one night
to the dark

I’ll gift
my portion
tho words won’t explain
of moments so tender –
tis there
we remain

I’ll tell the story
tho my prayer
then will be –
that when I have finished
you’ll tell it
to me

I’ve been a saint
been a sinner –
a fury raged
against the page
I’ve found love
and sure forgiveness
suffered me
the will to wait

of all the others
come before you –
count me blind
I’ve known my share
of pretty liars
so familiar –
enough to bury
deep somewhere

the fated card
of once again –
a place where love could be
with strength of will
the hope of time –
is gifted back
to me

want dissolved
is still recalled
as clear was then –
another now
defined by words
I do not know –
by graces I allow

someday –
a fleeting promise
as tender was a kiss
burned into my memory –
as a name
upon my lips

bringsmeback

there’s a place
beyond the dreaming –
a distance
not so far
beyond the pond –
beyond the oldest star

a place
become of verses
scripted unto skin –
whispers with
permission
to begin

as gifted
names to carry –
an almost sacred breath
forever
binds this fragile heart
to death

tis truth
tho somewhat fleeting –
as the measure
of a sigh
– promise
without cause
to wonder why

will beyond
longing
truth without voice –
souvenirs kept
in a box by the door
heart seeking purpose
in all I’ve begun
lifetimes forsaken –
how many before

same old dreams
same sweet story
beginning an end
was made long ago –
what can I say
forever
I’m falling
tis all that I am
all that I know
