was never mine
for holding –
defeated
letting go
worlds i keep
tender still –
are gathered
to my soul
was here
one lost july
i gave into your flame
ribbons blazing
ancient stars
remember me
by name

surrender this –
your place
within my sighs
keeper of confessions
I have made
blush against
the darkness
captive to my whims
jealous comes a lover
to my bed
eager to remember
whispers
to the night –
sunrise come
to steal
your love away

ingive me now
the ache to ache
the fear to feel
no longer
a place forgiven
laid to rest
a place where empty stands
a dream to ease
the others
should e’er I dare
forget
a life where waits
the living
a hand within
my hand

As I was looking for something else today, I happened upon this photo….and the quote, “life isn’t a station to arrive at, but a means by which we travel” came to mind.
Though it surely seemed like many miles from granny and grampa’s house to the store, it wasn’t at all. Let us forever remember the little things as big….life as way more than we expected. The picture – little steve, sis, and hannah making the trek back to the store from granny’s…..remembering for me a path they never realized was so blessed. ❤

I’ll tell the story
with words
you once knew –
of the ways I have journeyed
on my way
back to you
I’ll tell
of secrets
we shared with the stars –
of lonely surrendered
one night
to the dark
I’ll gift
my portion
tho words won’t explain
of moments so tender –
tis there
we remain
I’ll tell the story
tho my prayer
then will be –
that when I have finished
you’ll tell it
to me

a place for us, a time for telling, all I know of living, blessings, circle of life, journey, life, love, quiet, searching, sweet
was I the one
was I the reason
once you crossed
a tempest sea –
tamed the storm
a sweet redemption
from the waters rise
conceived
silver blades
guard the river –
silent vespers
calm the waves
– wherever one
another searches
for the one
we’re come to save

today I found another
note –
a reminder tucked away
beneath the eaves
flat against the wall
amazing how
the weather turned
but not a line
was lost
to autumn’s beating branches
winter’s silent fall
I wonder
as the ancient west
spins to dark again
will there we meet anew
some other time
daring in our fearlessness
to write our names
as one –
easing as a season
into rhyme

sunday
warmed to morning
a part of all
I love
and left behind
the memory
of one more
everything
hands worn hard
by worrying
keep my heart at bay
guide me through
the wilderness
holding me
this way

inJust yesterday, I organized an ‘ice breaker’ for staff in our office – a chance to appreciate more fully new members to our group (part of an acquisition).
It was easy enough. From a bowl of skittles, each individual picked one skittle with no fore-knowledge of what the color might mean. Afterwards, we went around the room, sharing based on the color of skittle we had chosen –
Yellow: Last book read.
Green: Funny work related story.
Red: One thing you love about your job.
Purple: What you do to keep yourself motivated.
Orange: A life goal you’re working on.
I selected Orange and was the last in the room to share. Ultimately, I confessed I wanted only to finish well.
But later in the evening, I kept coming back to that little orange skittle and the life goals I had imagined for myself 20 years ago, 30 years ago…..
I’m quite sure I’ll continue to expand my answer as the near nights unfold, but for now, I want to listen.
And I want to give away every story I hold dear.
And still, I want to finish well…
beyond the snare
of days ahead
of nights where sleep is gone
dreams I had
do you recall
each memory become
a story told of wonder
of love I dare not tell
but worry yet
of silence kept
far beyond the veil

Additions of 9/26/2017 – To assume good in everything and everyone (and to reflect it back so that others see the value I see in them); to give far more than I take; to never stop learning; to listen with more than my ears; to recognize the divine intention in every place and circumstance I find myself in, knowing that the reason I am is part of a much greater I AM.
