another me, beginning, birth, death, home, life, love, mystery, seasons, story, time, truth, unremembering

closerthis

I was a story
born of will and ink
before I knew
to know you well
for all I was ~
another choice
with one more truth
to tell
another me
some other time
tho lifetimes lay between
the start
and this beginning
was nothing
as it seemed
of birth and breath
goodbye and then
to meet again somewhere
beyond the grace
of giving ~
another dream to share
where weaving
I have noticed
lines to write anew
seasons come from waiting
watching –
a moment
passing thru

. . .

from the meadow
buffaloes appear
and graze on treetops
careless they float
in ether –
the leaves they nibble
are higher than my roof
and soon their spring feeding
will change to a fall
of crackling orange cover
on tin roofs
(they do not see me)
in their reality –
they are a spell
of my imagination
while I bask in fading sunlight
though one day
when we all dream
these clouds will become
as precious
as the people
who seal our hearts in love
or a moment –
pondering
the origins of shooting stars

always we begin, birth, death, eternities, home, life, love, nature, seasons, time, unremembering

sweetly

for moments
still to wander
backwards into time
beyond the first
memory of sound
of love
within the quiet
a liquid lullaby
how swift
returns the coming back
to lie beneath
the pines
void of all
transgressions –
the ghost
of waiting cast
eternities
are held a breath apart
where once we fell
into this dream –
another falling
past

OF ALL I’VE KNOWN
AND THERE A FEW
WITH NAMES
I DON’T REMEMBER
A SCATTERING OF STONES
AGAINST MY HEART
EVERMORES
FORGOTTEN NOW
THE WAY FOREVER LINGERED
TOOK TO ROOST
A HOME BENEATH MY BED
ALLOWING SOMETHING
MORE THAN I
POSSESS THE NEED TO ALTER
BOXES FILLED –
PARCHMENT PAPER HEARTS
OF FADED LINE
AND ONE MORE TIME –
THE LOWLY EVIDENCE
OF MOMENTS
WITHOUT WORDS
TO SPEAK –
FOR FEAR
THEY MATTER ONLY
IN MY DREAMS

there are none
the same as I
lovers knitted close
met with ancient
whispers
in the dark
when want
for one more daylight
morning
to confess
fingers weave
in sacred reverie
prayer infused
with promises
holding you this way
once more
let me answer
every please
remain
return
remember
when life is surely gone
carry there my name
on silent lips
let the door be opened
wherein my heart
is kept
free the night
to sail beyond
the pines

daylight, grace, home, living, love, moments, shimmer, truth, twilight, unremembering

in the half light
of five o’clock
shadows bend and sway
while ego sleeps
in borrowed sheets
a world away
streaming light
of conscious flight
words
though none can hear
time – a frail illusion
of being here

as curtains fallen
o’er a dream
deny our need –
the weight of place
truth is clothed
in wonder –
moments left
of grace

a chirp
before the coffee spills
and thought becomes a sigh
fingers trace
a life replaced
with getting by

the taste
of names unspoken –
is solace to the soul
as five fifteen
is laid between
the living
and letting go

somewhereI

to hold
what solace taking
lest I love you
from afar
til distance dimmed
and I am where
you are
held in place
by promises
a prodigal returned
across the night
ten thousand
wingless dawns
are perched upon
my windowsill
dreams I knew before
as certain now
the coming back
to find I love you
more

can we ever
live it over –
leave from places
now forgot
making butterflies
paper
from the moon
remembered
where the going –
was for times
we couldn’t stay
a sunrise
like no other
burned again
lives
becoming stories
of the falling
into you
the taste of home –
a kiss
within a name

of wars
I’ve no memory
but the sweet smell
of smoke
and a distance
who knew
we were going
ready for battle
guilty regret
for the last we recall
letting go
when taps started
playing
who rose to dance
cleft from the heart
you were breaking
saved by the passage
of blue into light
safe from
remembering
war

she said
the rain is coming
there are letters on the porch
sorrows sweetly pressed
against the trees
I know this wind
from lives before
a portion of me still
is whispered by the mountain
to the sea

he said
but for the dawning
I’d slip into the night
and leave behind a rumor
I was here
settled in your warm embrace
my head against your heart
tempted by your hands
into the light

she said
there’s something deeper
than ever I could tell
a mystery
more sacred than the stars
wills the sun to rising
with stories of the night –
where I am still
and you –
the way I know

he said
there was another time
I held you tenderly –
tho where and when
I’ve lost a part
of me
he said
it doesn’t matter
were this the only one
a moment stretched
between eternities
