cometome

had I known
the day was ending
and there would be
for me
no more

might I have loved
a little deeper –
for the loves
I’d known before

remaining with
my solace –
like a hurt
that wouldn’t mend

was a place
beyond the telling –
I would never be
again

. . .

returned somehow ~

snowondust

I was at last
an eager breath –
the scent of snow on dust
a place of nearly nothing
how I felt
when you were gone
going –
which and still
I wonder now
but I’ve returned
somehow
in learning
none are gone away –
the journey
blooms with seeds
from yesterday

. . .

Regardless the journey, we are never lost to love nor us to it.  Where we are, it is……..  We carry love; it carries us.  Home is a place to which we are always going….a familiar we’ve never forgotten.

aroundagain

today I found another
note –
a reminder tucked away
beneath the eaves
flat against the wall
amazing how
the weather turned
but not a line
was lost
to autumn’s beating branches
winter’s silent fall

I wonder
as the ancient west
spins to dark again
will there we meet anew
some other time
daring in our fearlessness
to write our names
as one –
easing as a season
into rhyme

. . .

the memory of one more everything –

sunday
warmed to morning
a part of all
I love
and left behind
the memory
of one more
everything
hands worn hard
by worrying
keep my heart at bay
guide me through
the wilderness
holding me
this way

. . .

another almost this ~

abundance, closer to home, dreams, faith, life, love, reminders, truth

20170331_152004

I dreamed
beyond the edges
into a thicker deep
where buttercup and lilac
weaved a spot of shade
of one more
ever after
one more winter past
rocking chairs
wherein my laughter sits
reminders of another day
another almost
this
nights when not a one
were stars
we made

. . .

Author’s Note:  Many years back, my sister gifted my daddy with a concrete bunny for Father’s Day.  It sat in the grass next to an aging bird bath, with one exception.  When it was time for mowing, my daddy would lift the bunny to sit atop the bird bath so that it wouldn’t be accidentally forgotten, damaging both the bunny and the blade.  For almost two years now, it has sat atop the birdbath.  Though time has passed, we know the hands that put it there and have no desire to displace it.

How often do we need reminders of love?

I was an only child
for a year or two –
selfishly taking of kisses
a moment or more
wouldn’t matter that much
until another was come
to arms not as long
with eyes the same shade
of carry me home

How soon disregarding
a half distant drum –
and tears
once cried just for me
nights where the pillow
held no allure –
dreams I spent walking
alone until dawn

Spied from afar
a trembling flame –
shadows cast over
the lawn
mandolins playing
where have you gone
as I ran ahead
into love that was mine

. . .

time

across the plains
which have no master –
tides rewritten
carve the sand
steps removed
my solace journey
lifetimes passed
to where I stand

kept aside
with places sacred
each divined
no less than these
rain is falling
now the river –
wanders far
with sweet release

echoes fall
as green to timber –
light to lacey
fingers glean
silence weighs
the reach of sorrow
broken bough of
nature’s dream

life returns
to guard the stillness
darkness pressed
beyond the shoals
seasons pass
as sands are shifted
sunlight bathes
the willing soul

. . .
