when my end
is come
will i taste
your name
as i rush
the silver ethers
a final turn
at destinies
where moments pass –
a breath between
wherein my pulse
is tamed
a memory
where yesterday
remains

had i known
my fervent whisper
might reach beyond
the veil
beyond the break
where sunlight fills
your eyes
had i sensed
your permission
as you strolled
beneath the boughs
courted by the shadows
in a world
of here and now
had i known
you were missing
everything
i miss of you
as breath
against my shiver
– resurrecting
every truth
had i known
this day would come
anew
tho never quite
the same
as the first you heard
me whisper –
the first i spoke
your name

as easy as breathing, echoes beneath my skin, essential truth, grace, life, little words, love, poetry, rewritten

tho I know better
I should not want
for words
I cannot find –
those which fault
to fall
beyond my memory become
let these keys
remember –
embracing verse the same
let my mind be free
to fill
pages I remain
as one
a vowel –
a broken line
who shall tell me
I am wrong
when all I sought
to do –
was ease my pen

I am
the child of a living God
the essence of a garden
I am the blood
of ten thousand tribes
made to one
I am the breath of heaven
a river rush with tears
a light denied
the limits
of the sun
I am
willing to be broken
so that I might rise again
deciding as I will
my destiny
I am not afraid
of falling
mine are wings
of love divine
I will lean into
and wait
a certain wind

were I gifted
wisdom
sight beyond my eyes –
cards to play
a looking glass unglazed
would e’er there be
a moment
you would come
and I would know
which lines were crossed
as means
for letting go
were I offered
absolution
for every time
I looked beyond
a year began
negated now to loss
a rush of recollection
do you remember
how it was
a breath between
each memory
of us

all I know, easy, life, love, nature, release, time, writing in the dark

whatever this
as lives between
depths beyond the dark
some distance
undecided by a word
a heart
without memory
but fearful still
of touch
trembles at the thought
of prying fingers
silence now
the sweet erase
of breath
where breath is gone
succumb to praise
emptied of goodbye
a psalm
we never sang
blessed recognition
was here
we knew the first
of love
enough
for nothing
waits to fill the void
with graces –
yet unspoken
blue beyond
where sighs
are come
to wing
. . .
author’s note: sometimes the will to sleep exceeds my reach. fingers
fumble in the darkness – becoming wings – a pen greedy for release

divine intent, grace, here you are, life, love, nature, time, truth, who I am

fashioned of slate
carved by the river
that ran by your house
a mountain
that day
cool as the shade
beginning to turn
burning
my passions
away
four million miles
jasper and quartz
rings
where my heart
used to be
canyons painted
to honor your eyes
letters writ
to the sea

how far
from Spring to wander
I can scarce
recall perfumes –
wafts of honeysuckle
sacred vine
days beneath the sun
echoes of another
spilled into
a morning
just as this
boughs already emptied
tho memory persists
wherever now our secrets
fill the wind

how much of fate
was mine to choose
evidence the ways
folded maps –
another truth betrayed
how many stars
were broken
from their path across the night
fell as wishes –
one more turn
at life
what of this
I understand –
how much I learn anew
without a moment here
being loved by you
as wishes wait
a time
a place to be
here the same was I
seeking destiny

when bells
are nearly broken
tho chords
are hanging still
when the choir
folds together
with their silks
when hymns are dashed
as silence earned
banging on
our knees
sore and bruised
the busted
falling down
when truth
we swore would save us
becomes the last
we seek
as walls to spy
flame is all
we breathe
curses pulled
around us
pleas for something
more
to ease the ache
of missing –
to find
what we came for
