silences i traded (let me in) ~

of silences
i traded –
(let me in)
crimson places
fallen
i recall
days beyond what mattered
before i knew to know
the echo of my
voice
upon the snow
of breath
i still remember
(let me in)
memories forsaken now
as whispers
to the wind
of names
and places
someone may have tethered
to my heart
seems now the page
is empty
save for this –
(let me in)

. . .

promised were they all ~

intimacy, life, love, moments, promise, seasons, sometimes, truth, winter

lest i want for more
than breakfast
from your hands
words to spill
golden into light
the crush of dawn
another breath
surrendered
i remember
how it was to want
for nothing but the night
to pull around
easy
winter blankets
jealous were the stars
for where we lay
feasting on a moment
promised were they all
another time
with nothing more to want
than everything

. . .

pressed into shadow ~

do you remember, kiss, life, love, memory, shadow, sometimes, stay, truth

take
of this
whatever you need
the blankets
the morning where coffee
is poured
where every scar
to the table
is mine –
a day when i judged
not the coming around
or the reason
the moments
you stay
pressed into shadow
whispered
i will
make of your kiss
a memory sweet
as any i dare
to remember

. . .

disregarded ~

home, knowing, life, love, presence, real, sometimes, still, waiting

wherever love
has memorized
the color of my eyes
the way my hair gets tangled
with the sheets
was only this
i waited
lives to disregard
the winter ache
of rainbows
melted into flame
whatever once i noticed
convincing it might seem
how the stars aligned
within my dreams
how the morning
pressed against the shadow
of my need
remining me of
all the things
i never knew
to know

. . .

story denied ~

home, life, love, real, river, save me, sometimes, truth

ferry me back
before the storm curses
swim me across
where the river goes wide
when almost
seems no chance worth taking
save me another –
for every story
denied
ferry me back
lest heaven come easy –
as someone to leave us
alone
take me wherever
your love waits familiar
ferry me over –
won’t you carry me
home

. . .

wordless words ~

destiny, home, life, love, poetry, sometimes, trust

were yesterday
a promise
for another we might find
a path between
the cedars
arms outstretched
walking blind
for a moment
for a lifetime
let me dare
to close my eyes
let me feel the dirt
beneath my feet
your drum
within each sigh
wordless words
as souvenirs
of a story not yet made
dreams beyond
the memory of sleep
tarry here
as i would still
for one more day with you
one more place
and i with rooms
to keep
your heart as i remember
your breath –
the same as mine
words beyond the reach
of words
destiny
divine

. . .

surely one ~

home, love, memory, now, remember, sometimes, time, truth

for another day
let us be –
lest some other
breath become
of memories refined
a place beyond the sun
where morning wakes
the night
remits
with destinies to grieve
as one
most surely one
our faults to ease
for another touch
every word
suffers my surrender
no way for getting back
for getting home
come this sweet permission
to take
please take of mine
to spare our love –
the only truth
i know

. . .

from the start ~

how many words
were wasted
in the rush
to get them down
rhyme i thought would save me
never did

years disturbing pages
awaiting verse
to come
poetry –
i knew you from the start

the way you traded
syllables
passions understood
as story memorized –
please tell me
now

where each pause is fitted
a place to hold
it all
the way to feel
everything –
words before the fall

how was i to recognize
your beat
within my own
rhyme i chose
ten thousand lines
ago

Author’s Note: I may be the poet, but you – you are the poem ❤

graces, home, life, love, memory, one more day, sometimes, time, truth

had i time
enough
to make the best –
years beyond these rings
a moment undecided
by the way
the nightbird sings
a road too long
to get me back –
a broken stand
of pines
had i days
to resurrect –
one more morning
to ascribe
breath where mine
was stolen
i remember
had i grace
to give in trade –
an evermore
to save
would my pleasure come
in counting
every kiss where
we align
would i wait
another day
to make you
mine

. . .

home i never left ~

faith, home, love, sometimes, time, trust, wonder

was this
for warmth I waited
crooked boards and thread –
a light
to ease the dark
above the pines
distance traveled
who am I to squander
what remains
to still my ache
with wonder
what of you
was ever mine

another season
captive to your eyes

was this
the home i never left
when fell into
the pond –
drowned one summer day
mid july
did you grieve
til dreams were tendered
by words
that never came –
an ancient map
stars we called
by name

was this
the chance forever took
one winter as we lay
curled against each other –

do you remember

. . .
