already now
the twilight rests
against the threat of night
where dreams
I can’t recall
await my sleep
already there
I’m missing you
without regard for days

another dawn
beyond my will to keep

a name unspoken
in silence stills
to bring this aging heart
to tears
released the ache
of living left –
to find of heaven
moments here

a place removed
unclaimed by grief
beyond the realm
of yesterdays
returning light
an endless sun –
where I am yours
to love
always

. . .

May your heavy heart find peace. I will hold you within mine always ❤

had i nothing here
save one more day –
a lullaby to squander
a patch
where once i lay
beneath the watch of orion
whispering my everything
holding nothing back
an ache or two
as trade for you
remember

the cost of love
is not so much
the cost to grieve
a treasure
where remains of us
a telling
i let the grass grow deep
a patch where heaven
intercedes –
took my breath with wonder
willing me to
scorn the gaze
of stars

. . .

was never another ~

last i remember
a red sky was falling –
blue had run out
on the day
dreams were allowing
access for mercy –
love had come home
with reason
to stay
like there was never another
we thought about leaving
took down the curtains
and buried the bed
out past the pasture
jesus was witness
to a feeling we dared
believe
wasn’t dead
heaven made plans
to sleep in for breakfast
when i found you there
at the edge of the woods
looking for signs
to stay
to remember
wanting for love
in arms
understood

. . .

a certain wind ~

I am
the child of a living God
the essence of a garden
I am the blood
of ten thousand tribes
made to one
I am the breath of heaven
a river rush with tears
a light denied
the limits
of the sun

I am
willing to be broken
so that I might rise again
deciding as I will
my destiny
I am not afraid
of falling
mine are wings
of love divine
I will lean into
and wait
a certain wind

. . .

no heaven I remember ~

beyond the night, birth, death, heaven, home, life, love, spirit, time, when I've forgotten you, without end

tis not for death
to ease this ache –
or steal from life this grace
no darkness could contain
the way love is

tis not for earth
a pound of stone –
a place to lay me down
cold beyond the memory
of your kiss

was not for solace
a soul returned –
come to bring me home
no heaven I remember
more than this

. . .

fell in whispers ~

were not for breath
a moment more –
than e’er the years were promised
were not for prayer
I spoke aloud
or gave to stars
one night

as venus burned
another sun
I fell into your eyes
beyond a meadow
deep and sweet –
flush with fireflies

were destinies delivered
a kiss at seventeen
became a wish
to stars recalled –
the memory
of a dream

. . .

if ever ~

if ever
for my words you ache
just listen for the night –
the steady drum
of stars succumb
to heaven chasing light
the cry of crickets
fiddles ring
as shadows round are cast
cedar boughs
forgiven now –
are kneeling on the grass
the stir of
night birds waking
to find another song
things I might have told you
– they will hold you
when I’m gone

. . .

the end of remembrance ~

heavenhome

you were the color of truth
in a black and white world –
bloom to a blanket of weed
the warmth of September
toasting my skin –
an answer
to every need

you were the first cool breath
freed from the river
a comfort when dark pressed around
a shadow of sparrows
high in the trees –
waiting our time
a reminder of song

you are my thought
at the end of remembrance
when all is forgotten –
love will remain
whispered aloud to the stars
– warming my kiss
with your name

. . .

not to wonder ~

rememberthis

somewhere beyond
the certainty
of one more every day
beyond the wish
that keeps my dreams awake

as kisses unforgotten
dry an ocean of my tears
for a moment
unpretending
time is lost –
you are here

wrapped in morning
promise
whispering my name –
for a moment
not to wonder
why you left
or why you came

for one more
dream remembered
in the silent swell of dawn
another sky
we lay beneath –
stars we wished
upon

. . .

living love remembered ~

howcouldyouknow

I’m the daughter
of ten thousand stars
verses strung together
as witness
to the ways we came –
a prayer before surrender

days and lifetimes charted –
as we slept in fields below
nights of hallelujah
(heaven)
saw the sunrise
o my soul

a promise born to keeping
– was ne’er dependent
on the past
but living love
remembered (still) –
a kiss beyond the last
