what soul
would I surrender
for another life to lose
– breath
when there is nothing left
what kiss
would I
refuse

what sorrows
meant to suffer –
for joy when others fail
a spark beyond
the dark –
beyond the veil

when asked
what would I give
what might I take if only one –
what dream of mine
will linger
will linger
when I’m gone

lovereturning

for every tear
some blessing still
comfort in the dark
memories
too light
for weigh me down
names not soon forgotten
taste the same
upon my tongue

never less than once
I was
before the day you came
the heart of me
resounding
(just as sweet – the same)

contrary yes –
tho made the more
for ways in which I go…
the best of love
becoming part
of all the girl
you know

buds

I know this path
familiar
unfamiliar
as the river
that scores my hand
the knowing prophesy
of life
and all that love
imagines us
into being

I know these blossoms
they are friends of mine
names I’ve misplaced
times
that left me wanting
empty for a drink
of remember

I know this way
as once I lingered
somewhere else
another me
was here the same
tho not made wise
by the memory
of love
we carried

gathered mine

in the hush
before a star becomes
a path across the sky
before our wish is fated
to come true
remember how it was
to count them all
to speak their names
one by one
a trillion lights
come for me
and you

as simple then
the way recalled
tho now it all seems strained
to recognize the wealth
beside the gold
to see the truth
when all the rest
is bent to break us down
forgotten
what the heart
was meant to hold

a thousand years
returning
another to endure
as twilight burned –
I can’t say for sure

whether I was yours
or you became
mine but for a night
a dream displaced
long before
daylight

before the plead
of morning
the rush of words to skin
was it the same
I knew you
as you knew me
then

you were there
when love became
the deepest want of all
– another life
beyond the
night birds call

whispered
into shadow –
the promise of goodbye
a thousand lives
surrendered
to a sigh

one more time
one more season –
let the blossoms fall as may
marigold and budding jasper
solstice from
a world away

as before
a certain wisdom
comes without regard
and still –
all that was
remains unbroken –
all our passions
given will

touch recalled
as were no passing
into love –
where life remains
unto fields of winter clover
miles we wander
home again

catch me now
the lover leaning
into life –
a fated charm
convince my heart
to match your beating –
as gathered soft
to waiting arms

Justthissideof sleep

I know the psalms
each word by heart
written somewhere
tho I’ve forgotten why
love resounds
eternally
the best of me
without a note to play
I dare not sing
unburdened bliss –
I give away
the truth
becoming more
than ever someone else
someone still
could say
how it is you made of me
something more than words
something more
within each sweet
refrain
