stillofmine

moments crowd
a gentle dawn –
tis there the promise sleeps
camped beneath
exalted arms of green
songs are lifted tender
of one more time we knew
of heaven here –
lifetimes pressed
between

however sweet
the knowing comes
in tiny purple petals
as blooms
the same as stars
our light returned
beauty swims in mystery
of longing never settled –
dreams are falling
somewhere still
we yearn

stillIshallbe

silence partakes
of all that we matter –
streams through the kitchen
and runs down the hall
forgotten the sound
of laughter repenting
ignorance waits
to steal from us all

weak from the struggle
stronger the scars
are folded as wings
paper white –
the last time we noticed
was the first
we were loved
as silent to speak
in defense of the night

were morning left over
love coming down –
as black turns his face
on the dawn
little we know
the end just beginning
as destiny wills us
remember –
move on

theyknowmethere

of solitude
no worse for grace
alone is not so very
as stars to swear
allegiance to the soul
gathered breath into the wake
of one more everafter
I shall live
in heavens I have known

find me near
the water’s edge
beneath a pink umbrella
swept along with dreams
the wait becomes
past the turn in churning
one more tender take
spring is fell
and love is just begun

. . .

closer

who are you
the winter cried –
as green began to gather
taken by surprise
his woolen cloak

who are you
to come for me –
robbing me of stories
white as comfort
lay atop the sheets

who are you
with sharpened bill
to bury in my bosom –
left of times before
one seed remained

a messenger
of almost light –
December
freed of fortunes
now to break me open
with your sun

who are you
to find me here –
knowing (as you know)
tears already melted
– rivers
wear my name

resurrection

if ever
i were asked to give –
of everything i own
were sorrows but for tears –
a garden grown
names repeated quietly
indifference to the night
– of touch
the heart reminded
by failing light

would e’er i know
or e’er i dream –
no cause for letting go
of places
i was meant to love you so
lest ashes blow
or winters grace –
some wreath upon my door
or longing fit
as hands i held
before

would e’er i curse
the sure release –
of moments gathered here
of lives to come
but none as this –
so dear
my knees to bruise
i know they will
i fall most every time
repeating words
of gratefulness –
for all was once
(is ever) mine

. . .

whereverIam

were our story
without ending –
the road would lead us on
forgotten not the turning
or the fall
reminders of eternity
wink and they’ll be gone
hands to hold –
and one to change
it all

eighty years
or sometimes ten –
a garden loved by thorns
a rusty metal rocker
hides the shade
baskets stained by picking
weeds to bind the fence
bees are telling
every plan
we made

a worn out
sunday prophet –
folds his bible near
tho none can read the name
it used to hold
leather bound by promise –
love would get us through
trees are bending
double
in the cold

I been down
and got back up –
to know
(I know) of love
of seasons undecided
by the light
of passing into paradise
to live beyond these days
gardens yield for tending –
somewhere sweet
tonight

. . .

storyme

by others I was known
do you recall
my name
ash and honeysuckle
maple
cedar
rain –
stayed with you
lay with you
how it was you knew
the same I was
as yesterday
you knew

the ache of
where we’re going
as pulled into the night
spilling over canyons
with our light
flush against
your wonders –
swollen heart to please
carved by your initials
my release

into the song
almost unsung –
birds of chatter cling
above the boughs
where once
we loved –
do you recall
my name

. . .

stillIam

sweet the flush
of destinies
whene’er the world grows calm
as there beneath
each tender tree –
eternities are known
tho burdened not
by stories left –
forsaken by the truth

would still the heart
from beating –
here alone

frail the myth
of magical –
sacred paths revealed
with worry not for sorrows
washed away –
breezes blow
across into
the proof of love’s refrain
faith has come
another dream
to save

. . .

one more way ~

fleeting

let me now
to lines be drawn –
before and after me
a sweet embrace
remembered
that is all

muscadine
and gypsum root –
marigold and sage
planets strung above
and velvet sky

save for me
the telling –
of one more way to find
paths already waiting
our retreat

take my hand
to hold apart –
the warmth of reaching in
say my name –

as light
remembering

. . .

weaved to the soul ~

likethis
would birth
be absolved
 by the passing between
or dying held fault
for the slipping away
moments becoming –
as stars to the dark
where hearts
held in secret
are gathered to grace

lingered in loving –
with purpose of life
as ashes to twilight
forgotten to fall
thru ribbons of scarlet
purple and maize
– and held as a passion
forgiving of all

a breathless confession
of moments too few
when promised forever
with all we hold dear
weaved to the soul
by pieces of light –
and waited as every goodbye
disappeared

awash in a river
unnoticed by time –
 and swept by a memory
of night into day
no matter the measure
to lives lived between
or how far the first time
I held you
this way
