grace (2)

yesterday I chattered
as silence spilled around –
gave my everything
to make it go –
to ease the ache
of restlessness –
charming as I wrote
of all I sought
and all I claimed
to know

til loosed again
from wanting
– ties that swore to bind
years confessed
a faultless void to fill
my every spare
with something more –
empty with surprise
– content to
make my home
within the still

. . .

all who have loved ~

trustme

I awake in the shadow
of quarter past two
and wander these hands o’er my heart
seduced by the chatter of wingeds at night –
the lull of a spirit
in haste to depart

longing perfected
in patches of blue –
the smokey white ghost of a whispering moon
spies on my dreaming though nothing is said –
as I fall into silence
stealing verse to my bed

it’s enough
to convince me
of truths growing cold –
faith in beginning where stories unfold
I remain as the keeper tho certain insane
where all who have loved –
in pieces remain

Justthissideof sleep

there are moments
just this side of sleep
where in silence
I confess

to every word unspoken
 every sin of carelessness
relieved the weight
of waiting –
of promise left to waste
surrendered to my memory –
gathered unto grace

afriendofdark

had I need
for one more time
one more walk beneath the pines
gathered to a world
beyond the light
listening as darkness
nestles into sleep
a wordless dream
beyond my meager sight

remnants of another
where I am free to fly
above the cliffs –
ragged walls of stone
as flutters seep
my consciousness
with restlessness and awe
a wanting deeper still
than breath or bone

silence
is not so silent
for the soul atuned to hear
the sound of one heart singing
in the night
the quiet breach
of fallen leaves
betrays the gift of birth
the joy of falling
sweetly
into life

floating_petals

blush
where once
the summer fell
to make no sound at all
cedars crashed
beside their brothers
tall

wings –
a sweet inclusion
come fly away with me
beyond the hues
was there
we knew –
the breach of destinies

wrapped in whispered
secrets –
tied with cords of lace
where times before
the past is left
– surrendered now
to grace

love
where not a word
resounds
to tell of how it was
days beyond
our counting –
a silence filled
with us

tellmenow

this line
is one you crossed
that night
somewhere
as I lay sleeping
awoke within
the whisper of my name
ten thousand years
of someone told –
where once
I dreaming lived
speckled as the
moon
against your dark
poetry
to pull the heart
is life and death
surpassing
words and constellations
in silence
love remains

of mornings
every one
is still a mystery
to me
breaking from
the shadows
where yesterday
the moon
perched outside
my window
in stoic reverie
a confidante
deserving
of a wish
reserved for stars
a voyeur
unaccustomed
to my shame
confessed in shades
of lavender
sheets where warmed
the dawn
awakened by
the memory
of dreams

renewed

in moments
of remember
do you wonder
(as I do)
past the echo of the thunder –
past the fall

do you question
still to answer
someone said we might have been
too far (become)
so close
in letting go

to dream
our world (in places)
denied the curse of name
ascribed by stars
(as none we are)
when taken flight
again

of love
there is no
guessing
tis greater than our fears
(took my words)
before I knew
to speak

somethingstill

forgive of me
a time before
when leaving broke
my heart
before the spring
when as a blossom
burst
to decorate your garden
with perfume once was mine
before the chase
of dew into the light

pardon me
this lowly salve
of choices to confuse
emotion spent
and what for love
was done –
as places of your dreaming
where I am unafraid
of longing meant to soothe
this emptiness

as quiet to
an awkward stance
thought you knew me when
by storms awoke –
remembered not
my name
forgive of me
this dreadful verse
kept my soul from telling –
the taking with
of love
I meant to give

. . .

near ~

stirred

soft as dawn
approaching
light remembers dew
fingers touch
where words are left unsaid
laid between
the starting
of something more
we knew –
would take of breath
and leave us near
as one
