just such

was once before
my heart was filled
and I could not resist
a moment more
than what was come –
as words
within a kiss

was once before
I memorized
each line upon your face
what tender worlds
my hands have known –
each mystery
retraced

was once before
I knew you now –
a memory dispersed
by life
by death
by roads between
the last kiss
and the first

. . .

never mine ~

into grace

of these
small bits of wonder –
how many shall I keep
how many shared
beyond this fragile sleep

what bliss
was come to give away
what joy
was ever mine –
held the daybreak
years before my time

what laughter
lingers sweetly
as music down the hall
– poetry
I never knew
at all

never mine
else love become
anchored to a place
fell from these
two hands –
into grace

. . .

beyond the rivers edge

too soon
the rush –
of stars to flight
of lullabies
rehearsed –
warming how our hearts
were broken through

beyond the bend
a river flows –
in rifts of joy
and sorrow
lines are stretched
to frame an endless blue

there you are
awaiting –
with wishes for us here
where love remains
with every thought of you

. . .

for daddy
four years and counting
the days between

somewhere south

the road
however lonely
becomes a place
where we belong –
a storied recollection
of other days –
another song

as sunset gathers
gently
to the edge of evermore –
we are carried
by the journey
down roads we knew
before

let me know
if you are wanting
of hands
to share the load –
arms to rock you sweetly
when comes the time
to go

. . .

the very best of all ~

Willmeremember

there is a fault
aligned with love –
a crooked tear within the fold
what with eyes
the mind might wonder –
won’t be measured
to the soul

a moment
resurrected
time and time again
a willingness so easy  –
the very best of all
the truth
o’er which we linger
despite everything we know –
held within a memory
of the fall
