within a silence
I’d forgotten how it felt –
strained against another
left unsaid

taken
by forever dreams
beyond my lover tears
fated list I made
for why I was

stayed behind –
kept inside
sitting with my sadness
baking bread
and singing to the night

circles drawn
to restlessness –
let me be the longer
folded into joy
the storms betrayed

echoes of a sorrow
cross the darkest sea –
safe within
the drowning –
reminders now to swim

long the night becoming
in shadows of the dawn –
stars await their moment
with the sun

love remains unspoken
as a cooling autumn breeze
gathered now in arms
of evergreen

circles of forever
are writ in quiet there –
reminders of the passing
– not the end

whispers of forever
sit for ages with the light
in silent sweet surrender
we remember why we came

how strange
the pull of nothing
when nowhere seems so far
and closer still –
the pieces left
of then
folded between pages
margins almost gone –
ink is dried
and fingers
have rubbed thin

the start
of just beginning –
the memory of more
lacey lace
and I don’t know what for
the roads were come
across and down –
through these southern
skies
painted me a somewhere
almost now

a longing –
was nursed
a hungry cat
and edges there were left
to tell the world
of where the end
was ending –
who would tend the grass
and where the towels
were folded
with the grey

a rocking chair
and angry rings
to curse an ugly table
a crystal bowl
would hold your habits
well –
reminders of another
took my breath
for supper –
turned the bed
and never said
a thing

verses read
all over –
some I can’t pretend
are meant to hold
another fool
as I
forgotten to a season
passed me through
November –
cooled my brow
and left my longing
fire

as one became
with longing –
and leaned into the light
was come before the dawn
to know me here
wrapped in quilts
of yestermore –
dreaming somewhere still
pressed against
the memory of a sigh

come to song
in silence sweet –
notes along the road
crest beneath
the sleeping blossoms there
sparkle as a moment once
reached beyond
the stars –
to gather our
reflection to the sun

here –
tho I can’t tell you why
or where the moon
is hiding –
a story yet untold
by tangled sheets
leave the realms of darkness
journey now to dream –
I’ll leave the window open
lest you stay

– the taking
of dreams
‘cept for the one
I can’t understand
of winter come clean
in light
neath the pines
a shimmering moths
endeared by the snow

forgotten
the senusuous pull
of the flame
– and reason
the colors of pewter
and smoke
silken illusion
of places we loved
are folded by word
to the edges of night

cooled to dust
the ways behind –
are written (new again)
of times before
we passed
along –
as secrets to the wind

tho never clear
(or spoke aloud) –
as words our trust forbade
crossed the heart
(that was my own) –
forevermore
to trade

for moments
(this) so precious few
eternities stood wait
as gardens wilted
(one more time)
the bloom
of heaven’s gate

let go for none
or sink to hide –
as tender places still
remembered now
the ways of love –
were destiny (fulfilled)

as ashes melt
an even tide –
or dodge the churning reef
where clings
to sands immortal –
our fainting disbelief

were souls
to find redemption –
a path
already known
life (beyond the one we live)
shall bear us

disgruntled grace of thunder
of briar
sans the memory of bite
of teardrops tapped
along the roof
rusted tin and rainbow –
visions saved
for grieving
another morning
storm
