a new day, gather me home, home, life, love, seasons, time, trust, what i remember
02 Saturday Sep 2023
there’s a point
where words have no memory
no rush to confess
what was found
a fire burned sweet
petals retreat
retuned as a moment
eternity kept
apart from the sinner
devoid the saint
with only the heart
to remember

. . .

forgive the past
to rattle
pages loosed by time
words i dare not worry
lest i grieve
the path i took
to find you –
love we came to be
one night i saw
you there
beyond the trees
when morning
you awakened
to understand my ways
how many tears
this longing to appease –
for this
the hand
that holds my heart
the lips that warm
my name
a summer dream
surrendered you
to me
. . .
24 Wednesday May 2023
as the last
constellation
brushed into light
planets not yet given
to name
as weeds tangled over
the barbs of our past
I want you
to love me
that way
as a three quarter moon
oceans obey
souls coming back
for a kiss
as the memory of sparrows
sailing to home –
I need you
to love me
like this
like a wild
tameless river
split through the pines –
canyons carved
to the sea
pebbles and seashells
left to our wake
with reckless abandon –
love me
. . .
23 Tuesday May 2023

whatever words
you hold of mine
suffering to bear
confessions of a saint
– deepest praise
recompense
for shadows –
dancing on the wall
whispers of surrender
falling now
verse to bind
rhyme to waste –
the place
where love begins
witness to a sigh –
breath becoming
skin
whatever words
you keep of mine –
whatever fate is come
stretched to span
eternity –
saved for us
the one
. . .
27 Thursday Apr 2023
chisel me
forever
set your name with mine
beneath an evening
spread
of ancient pines
beneath a sky
of almost black –
wings against the dark
whispers of remember
– fathers
taking flight
carve me
into maple –
my soul to golden oak
swear me not a page
where i might stay
counter to a memory
how would i compare
as one so sweet –
to steal my heart
away
. . .
22 Wednesday Mar 2023
despite my
resolution
to keep you arms away
a distant sun –
i couldn’t reach by car
a voice
almost for certain
not quite faded
still i grieve
the sound of your hello –
it doesn’t matter
where you are
i’m tortured
by the notion
you would let me go
this way –
you don’t speak my name
don’t feel the same
some days
despite my sore confession
i don’t love you –
still i do
tis not for me to ever
understand
how it is my heart
remembers
everything
i never said
destiny
i dare not lay to rest
everything you are
to love –
is all i am
. . .

beginning again, life, love, memory, redemption, time, truth

had we time
to make it over
time to do again
what was left
undone
left unsaid
traded for another
life we might have lived
days we might have
passed
sweeter the temptation
to get it right
would earn our trust
take our nights
had we time
again (remember) –
to learn
the way to love
differently somehow
a place of rest
beyond whatever time
and breath
allow

10 Friday Mar 2023
of moments
long neglected –
choice to resurrect
a promise made
another day to find
whatever fate
was guided
by permission to arrive
was worth the way
deserted –
in my haste
to make you mine
for every moment
traded
dreams i let to dry
fields allowed to wither
in the sun
paths no longer open
covered disbelief
a night denied
the stars –
i knew you then
. . .
06 Monday Mar 2023
last i remember
a red sky was falling –
blue had run out
on the day
dreams were allowing
access for mercy –
love had come home
with reason
to stay
like there was never another
we thought about leaving
took down the curtains
and buried the bed
out past the pasture
jesus was witness
to a feeling we dared
believe
wasn’t dead
heaven made plans
to sleep in for breakfast
when i found you there
at the edge of the woods
looking for signs
to stay
to remember
wanting for love
in arms
understood
