names repeated
as bells are ringing
promise keeps
a vigil dear
returning echoes
once forbidden
death is not
a victor here

this line
is one you crossed
that night
somewhere
as I lay sleeping
awoke within
the whisper of my name
ten thousand years
of someone told –
where once
I dreaming lived
speckled as the
moon
against your dark
poetry
to pull the heart
is life and death
surpassing
words and constellations
in silence
love remains

bittersweet
a lovely word
speaks to ways I’ve known
a path or two
grown heavy to the briar
biscuits sometimes
much too hard
jelly to the jar
places I was going
faded now
not much left
for writing –
too much truth to tell
years
where silver grey
the earth grows hard
when for a while
I walk beneath
stars to shine
the same
as once I knew them
every one
bittersweet
they burn

for every day
another willed
a time where none
are known
a dawn where once
we lingered
not so long
eternity was passed
into the still
of might have been
a sigh against
the nevermore
of skin
a kiss
where words
went willingly –
with promises to claim
a story weaved
from where I fell
when first I heard
your name

created I
another me –
love I might have known
a dream
(so close)
the touching
never slept
in sheets
ten thousand thread
or more –
who was I to tell
of roads I walked
long –
with dirty soles
to learn again
the truth became
hands to fit
(my own)
paths where none
were gifted
save one
to take me
home

from places
afar
I wander again
to fields
where poetry grows
yellow and bright
orchid
and poppy
fragrance
(remember)
follows me home
a light
through my window
burns long
the night
reaching beyond
my resolve
to dreams
(not forgotten)
ways I have loved
~ promises left
from the fall

where was I
when teardrops fell
dancing in the garden
fingers sweat
with honeysuckle vine
whispering
my reverie ~
as secrets to the morning
lest only then
heaven hear my cry
with prayers
for one more
evermore
roads to take me home
~ as stars along
an endless stretch
of blue

leave me to home
as destined you found me
bound by a breath
to another man’s dream
to stars not betrayed ~
a journey unfolding
as warmth
without reason ~
evening of light
where shadows
lay stilled by the promise
of someday
by the fluttering sense
that forever
was come

for a time
before
was forever here
as close as breath
to the wind
as near to nothing
everything true –
eternal soul
awakened again
from the way
I came
down some other path
to walk a day
in your sun
to gather strength
as shadows fell
silent ribbons
undone
from the first
I knew
as am knowing now
of a moment
living apart
from the place
where love
remains with me
written somewhere
on my heart

breath, gather me here, home, life, love, nature, old maps, remembering, time, trust

home
is but a path
returning
blossom here
where once a seed
placed
with love –
a heart beginning
now to fill
our only need
of hands
held soft –
gentle kisses
a moment here
wills us stay
beyond the reach
of time
and promise
a sun unseen
awaiting
day
