heldmethen

how gently move
these brittle bones
from evermore to waking
eternities
beneath my pillow
cold

were traded once
as came a dream –
get me back
by morning
before the sun –
her fingers brushing
gold

to places
braided silver
are memories remiss
– a photograph
tendered not
by name

a blush
of april blossom
tangled in my hair –
moments lent
of heaven
to reclaim

pages yet
unburdened
of all that I might say
were secrets meant
my senses
to restore

a haunting recollection
of windows
open still –
a silent moon
and footprints
on the floor

how gently move
these brittle bones
from evermore to waking

sweetlynow

in places began
from the coming back home
as distance created
a line between stars
where light was suspended
eternities true
as would wait for the sound
a pause between words
the still of
a kiss
remembered somehow
tho times they are different
lives into life
a crossing of seasons
names without verse
a taking of all
but a promise
to love

. . .

a faraway forgot ~

fearlessfalling

when all I know
the winter takes
without regard
to want
blankets pulled aside
and windows
wide

as welcome
to another life
was last
the first to go
a fond farewell
as kisses
on my brow

stories
I was meaning
to tell
before the night
was folded in
to fill
my wondering

backward
to beginning –
a baby once again
cradled
to a faraway
forgot

. . .

a midnight in march ~

leavemetohome

render
with mercy
if ever you tell
or cleave from wishes
these stars
fell to my eyes
a midnight in march
filling the night
wherever you are

might yet our story
be saved
to your soul
a passing of light on the way
a whisper of longing
kept by the wind
shall meet
with remembrance
someday

. . .

not over yet ~

willyouknowme

for a while
on yesterday –
a faded patch of truth
and paths set off the road
by getting on

remember me
I’ve asked too much
say my name
sometime
lie awake to wonder
where I’ve gone

beyond the reach
of one more time
beyond a trust
betrayed
there I sit
in denim –
cursing lace

let me know
if e’er there is
a time when you forget
the ways to home
– am I
not over yet

east
and somewhere
ribbons wrap
love around the moon
light is hidden
elsewhere
we began –

with only these
reminders
of the ways
and why we came –
a night tho not so long
to dream
again

. . .

a way becoming ~

patchwork

last night
I dreamed
(my waking one) –
a house
my ways becoming
and split three times
the porch
into the sun

the steps were broken
(all my paths
were worn)

held me there
one winter –
buried me
beneath
an ancient bough
– a stretch
of cedar wings

a longing
(not so much) apart
recalls another me
miles without a story
(coming true)
blossoms from a place
where once
I scattered
memories

. . .

heaven here ~

of one we knew

of heaven here
(a paradise)
of truth
denied our say –
warmed by every
coming home –
(numbering
our days)

held aside
from all we knew –
would find (our love)
the same
as light before
the light was new
(to wonder why)
we came

shame
the locks
for breaking
before the sun we rose
with questions
not for taking back –
in living (now
we know)

. . .

illusion of rain ~

findingme

darker the page
this side of my bed
where sleeping
you move me away
from places
the moon
remembers at will
– as silent the sigh
of a dream
falling in

you must have been
surely not
more than this wanting
already the hands
have gone on
touching to numbers
we knew
would replace
the last with the first
a kiss more
to save

too many
to mention
of moments sustained
in the fold of a sheet
– an illusion of rain
could be
I was grieving
this loss long ago
when turned from my seeking
– to wonder you
home

making of story
one ending the same
as you spoke
to the dark
while counting
my stars

. . .

stories from afar ~

nearenough

what worlds
 we wandered years away
with nothing come
between
a star removed
of moments here –
as ancient ones
 to dream

of lives forgotten
plans undone –
by wishes laid aside
for destines
of fear –
a truth denied

what souls
await already –
with knowledge
of our will
they call us out –
and listen for us
still

on frigid nights
the air is charged
with stories from afar
a promise
of returning –
where we are

choosing yet
some other time –
another way we came
to know
before our knowing –
ten thousand
stars
by name

. . .

lines already made ~

near

mindful I
of places
you’ve remembered me
before
and times you can’t recall
you knew my face
within the crowd
beneath the lights
floating in the dark
– another love
with lifetimes
to retrace

the truth
from lines
already made
into your weathered brow
crissed and crossed
a map
along your hand
pardon my intrusion
into futures unforseen
– destines beyond
the one you planned

stars have watched
a many year
in want for just one kiss
dreaming spent
for reasons still unknown
eternities are painted
to places
you can’t see –
and here I am
reminding you of home
