words are offered
unyielding –
scrapped from pages
divine tho they be
moments
split open
and scattered
are gift to the soul
with comfort to seek
verses and
poetry
rhyme sometimes raw
as blood turned
to ink
by the page
by the fall
who will remember
how it was then
we wrote
without thinking
without feeling
at all
what was meant
unintended
as a line spoke aloud
as truth
we were hoping to breathe
who shall give voice
to some other
we were –
poetry left the heart
to receive

how many the times
i’ve cursed at the moon
for making a fool
of this heart
how many the dreams
he’s offered to keep –
unwilling i’ve let
every one
fall apart
sworn to my honor
a warrior sometimes –
come as the night
still reaches for day
how faithfully started
from one
we became –
a whisper of promise
betrayed
. . .
30 Friday Sep 2022
pages lay empty
at the edge of my pen
waiting this fragile
heart to reveal
what was mine
what is left
of places we loved
a sweet revelation –
i remember it
still
stirred
by desire
assured of my fate
tho lies have been known
to tarry me now
as the first chill
of winter
carries me back
to a time i was lost –
to the place
i was found
. . .

this is the part
where longing makes sense
a sigh where my dreams
fall away
a name spoken softly
tho shadows can hear
what was saved
for this moment
from another
some day
this is the part
the part where i bend
a place where you lay
in my arms
for a while
trading secrets
for the promise of more
e’en now
there’s a warmth
at the tempt of my smile
i can’t be made
to surrender

eternity now, grace, life, love, remembered home, time, truth, will
had i bravery
to tell you –
confessions still to give
lines i wrote
ten thousand suns ago
planted me a garden
grew with destinies
longing left to bloom –
fated bruise
of memory
had i bravery
to wonder –
how we loved
how we will
so unattached to living
– love divine
devoid of every circumstance
without a star to wish
blossoms carried sweet
beyond the
vine

forgive
the way i drift –
when swimming in your eyes
forever tempts
and i have lost my way
forgotten how it was
said i’d never love you more
take my heart
steal my breath away
forgive of me
my timing –
there’s none of me to spare
let these arms remember
how to love you
everywhere
the soul is spent
before the years –
another moment gone
grieve me not tomorrow
grant me one
last sun
. . .

another day, by home another way, destiny, grace, heaven here, home, life, love, memory, nature, time
am thankful
for the spaces –
tender places
call me home –
to paths beyond my seeking
didn’t need a map
to know
where you were
e’er you wanted love from me
as grace prepared
another life
another time to be
a pause
within the aching
hands to fit just so
tell me where the story
was gone wrong –
take me back
take me
where the river crowds
the trees –
wait for me a map
draw your memory
to me
