stillasIshallbehere

within this gift
that is
my heart –
the memory of soul
– of nights so dark
and days no longer mine
of times before
we dare forget
a place untouched by man
I knew you
as I know you –
now
again

within these words
are others fit
with sorrow
for the ways
lines are curled about
as ancient death
fellowship was broken
by truth we held apart
eternity we lost
within
a breath

whereIremain

in the still
before the light became
was there I knew you well
– was there
I found your place
and learned your name
remembered of forever
once promised
to return –
when falling
– we were falling
just the same

remember me to always
let me follow there
footprints in the sand
or on the sea
trust the wind
to keep us –
to moments made divine
as light
upon the waters
come to me

from here

stretched between
the buttons
of purple clover crown
scattered as the petals
yellow red
here am I
(remembered)
to these sweetly
fragile souls
take me
let me hurry not
ahead

the path into
where heaven sits
in silence with the sun
just beyond the reach
of yester night
tarry me a moment
yet –
let the waiting wait
will my soul to blossom –
as lovers
into light

immortalityreflection
has shown me
the way I was then –
how sweet this communion
with reason to prove
tied not to telling
another life lived
today
but a step
let me move

the way
is reopened –
as light to my path
warmed by the essence
of faraway dreams
fell into purpose
of destiny come –
to remind me of joy
of sorrows
between

what I know
what I don’t
shall recall of my days
passed
in the rush to reveal
something much bigger
than everything mine –
a light
was a flame
holding still

merciful
transgression
when I was but a girl
held in dreams
for nights before you knew
carried by the notion
pieces sworn to find –
the best
I was – a memory
of you

how strange
these lines
resolved of me –
before the sunlight fade
became of me
a shadow
by your door
recalled the first of kisses
the last of secrets told

 a whisper now –
so sweet the cry
for more

for purpose
was I waiting –
flush against the sky
loved as one
another dream
of lifetimes passing by
washing down and over me –
caused my heart
to weep
an angel come
and all I knew of heaven
was his name
gathered me
to moments
without shame
the start of just beginning –
ageless as my soul
feathers floating
sorrows
down below

how many more
this one before –
this perfect any day
was offered me
the sun
became the night
returned the rain –
an ancient wind
to blow my body home
became to me a blessing
without name

of wonders come
within this one – a tear
a three leaf clover
a puddle not much deeper
than a grave
bury me
facing up
that I might see forever
that I might hear
this whisper
one more winter
to remain

there was song ~

summer-days-small

was the first
and no one knew us
by names we’d worn
before
battlegrounds
were crusted with our sins
there was smoke
before the leaving –
saw you dance
upon the dawn
tender fell my silent
tears again

there was song
I thought I knew it –
drifted o’er the pines
and faded into prayers
of thankfulness
echoes of remember
settle round me now –
as quiet wills
my lonely heart
to rest

sheets out in the rain ~

whereverIam

mother calls
on sunday
while daddy listens in
catching up –
it seems we’ve done it all
someone had a baby
someone said hello –
fifty years of loving
to recall

strung the line
for forty feet –
sheets out in the rain
a cigar box
of memories to share
everything
(the best of me)
sits in spools of rhyme
the night is lost
when I don’t
find you there

there’s a piece of thread
nearly gone –
and jeans I shouldn’t wear
just beyond the reach
of mystery
beyond the hold
of all I love –
another morning news
the moon is wanting in –
let him be

essenceme

strange the way
forever feels
as morning warns us home –
before the night
(is wrestled)
from the bed
blooms are falling
(lazy)
reminders just the same
are fit inside a suitcase
(something someone said)

presence found
in golden pools –
perfume (once you loved)
is mine to keep –
these souvenirs (of time)
brush against my longing
when passed me
in the dark

were e’er there proof
(I knew) of one
divine

stories spilled
in silence –
as messages of light
reveal the ways
as years (we fall) between
whispers
(o I love you)
remain with me
tonight –
swept beyond my sleeping
(where you) dream
