wherever love
has memorized
the color of my eyes
the way my hair gets tangled
with the sheets
was only this
i waited
lives to disregard
the winter ache
of rainbows
melted into flame
whatever once i noticed
convincing it might seem
how the stars aligned
within my dreams
how the morning
pressed against the shadow
of my need
remining me of
all the things
i never knew
to know

had i more than this
to give
more than my last word
a sigh no longer
waiting
every dream to wake
had i something
left of everything
take
then take some more
steal my breath
claim this heart
had never beat
before
had i reason
to surrender –
fear to lay aside
miles i may have walked
to find you home
forget them all
til comes the day
i shall rise again
renewed in love
i saved to
give you more

were this the love
to save me
when every hope was spent
before i dared
the window
to throw open
was this what i imagined
when nights were dark
and cold
the warmth i knew
was fitted
for my soul
how can i know
how can i ever
will to understand
the roads between
a million wayward stars
shattered by a wish
once i made
once i carried
slept beneath a pillow
on my bed

were this the love
to save me
when every hope was spent
before i dared
the window
to throw open

started a day
not so strained
not so far
from how many others
one day
just the one
but to remember
it now
how the clouds seemed so close
heaven as near
were your eyes

a sweet
recognition
of a place never left
home just the same
as your heart –
everything
a whisper shared
by the pines

i’d forgotten to sing)

a voice recalled
from a far distant place
was you –
i awaited
to dream

your permission
save for these wishes
this eager beginning
tell me
somewhere
you loved me another

this way

take of my restlessness
make for me
something
pour me a life
from your will
should ever i fade
let heaven
remember
another beginning
a place
we are still

hold me to circumstance
breathe of my sighs
clear every ache
from these lips
gather me home
a promise surrendered
the last time
you knew me –
was another
like this

wordless words to find
somewhere
beyond this aching –
are whispers
of divine

had i known
when first we met –
of longing unconfessed
your heart
within this beating
vows of restlessness

i never heard
but for the one –
your days were meant
for mine
as e’er another
soul to spare
or wordless words
to rhyme
