home

when the seas
have lost their way
to the shore
as starlight denied
by the moon
will then my surrender
be at last understood
by death come
a moment too easy
too soon

verses
and sentiment
fragmented word ~
memory suffered
by chance into rhyme
forever is written
as moments between
~ a story unfolding
of purpose
divine

lifetimes allowing ~
for silent release
of wondering back
unto all I hold true
beyond what was given
~ by fated intent
to a place I’d forgotten
to leave you

“Sometimes, in the midst of a crazy day or a crazier week, I get an email from my brother, ‘meet you below the falls in five minutes’. And just like that, I am somewhere else, breathing in the cold spray from high above, as laughter echoes off canyon walls. Even now, I close my eyes and hear the wonderful music that is bare feet on flat rocks.”

If we’re fortunate, we realize the blessing in the midst of its becoming rather than only in retrospect. In doing so, we free ourselves from bitterness, regret, and a future filled with frustration as we attempt to re-write the past.

In doing so, we erase the illusion that is time.

While the body may be tethered to the advance of hours, years, seasons, love is not. As someone near and dear to me commented recently, ‘How time dissolves in the mind, when our frame of reference is simply love …’

floating_petals

blush
where once
the summer fell
to make no sound at all
cedars crashed
beside their brothers
tall

wings –
a sweet inclusion
come fly away with me
beyond the hues
was there
we knew –
the breach of destinies

wrapped in whispered
secrets –
tied with cords of lace
where times before
the past is left
– surrendered now
to grace

love
where not a word
resounds
to tell of how it was
days beyond
our counting –
a silence filled
with us

cedar
umbrellas
and a whisper at nine –
just as the pink
fades to grey
as dusk lays
her ancient white hands
to my dreams
secrets escape
to the dark
show me
to love you –
beg me recall
with words
I have none
but these lips
who speak within silence
of long –
long agos
of worlds we returned

grotto

in the swell
of a moment
forever one light
was the cool
morning mist
to my face
a lifetime
surrendered
as ages to stone
arms
like a breath
pulled around
here I am
held as forever
loosened to rhyme
so sweet now the dew
neath my feet
stars falling soft
as the last time
I wished
was the first
to remind me
of love

. . .

so ~

all
and for only
an eternity this
held to the warmth
of my heart
a poem to feel
as surrender
it seems
was somewhere intended
in living to go
what will
have I garnered
shall I witness anew
held to the flame
you are setting
me so

graces

grace
to keep my sorrows
holy

quiet when
the world is loud

stones to lead
where rivers hurry

past the places
I adore

dreams
remembered

souls to carry
memories –
a story told

arms to open
heart surrendered

light and love
around to fold

fearlessfalling

when all I know
the winter takes
without regard
to want
blankets pulled aside
and windows
wide

as welcome
to another life
was last
the first to go
a fond farewell
as kisses
on my brow

stories
I was meaning
to tell
before the night
was folded in
to fill
my wondering

backward
to beginning –
a baby once again
cradled
to a faraway
forgot

sleepme

winter weave
your lullabye –
let the moon forget
the stone
that was my promise
buried deep
pressed into another rhyme
white
embroidered rose –
dreams remain
of lines I’m sworn
to keep

of graces
held the longer
yearn for me
the same
while quiet waits
our willing to reveal
a poem
we were writing
verse defending verse
strings we thought were broken
echo still

when pulled
into some other life
a moment
love endured –
softer where
the dawn is wearing thru
tempted by
the passing –
of yellow leaves to rain
– as certain as
my falling
into you

. . .

yes ~

silent here
as essence gathers
dew upon the grass
willows weep
the pines asleep
as morning stirs at last

to sit a while
in waiting
lest I pray
the hours slow
were nights my only want
in letting go

dreamless now
the faultless fall
of day
upon my skin
as berry bright
the sun
peeks through
again

fearful
of forgiveness
to love with all my might
barefeet warm
against the board –
in reverence
for the light

Author’s Note: I’ve struggled for days
to find the right title for this
post.  I’m hopeful this translates
well – the ease
of allowance.
