in humid slumber –
the soothing drum
of ten thousand bees
lone cicadas roll as shadow
against the heart
a storm of wings
silence sweet
her music rocks me
as evening falls
and lights come out
witness feels the soul
with pleasure –
the proof of love
we dreamed about

i miss
the way
you knew me when
against the shadows cast
the way you looked
beyond –
into the glass
of almost everything
i am –
less than just before
your eyes
where cooled
the sweetest shade
of only seeing more
than words
could tell –
vows returned
to promise time
and truth
i miss the way
the stars aligned
bringing me
to you

how sparse
these fleeting seasons
wherein our silence lies
as dungeons black
was there the martyr fell
confessing
to the almost
every time before
when dreams awoke
with stories of the veil

between the will
for one more day –
the rhythm of our years
is weighted by another
passed in vain
sins denied their pardon
keep me up at night
reason raps
the rusted window pane

wishes
I’ve decided
are rarely worth the risk
cast upon a starless
consequence
a boy I knew
I said I loved –
love him still sometimes
for moments of forever
nothing else makes sense

some sunday come before
and stars were lining up
out on the lawn
when whispered of another
of destinies fulfilled
He spoke your name
and heard the sound of mine
layer upon layer
years have gone between
lives we passed
awaiting this to dream
