had i waited
on the spring
to gather me
for home –
the scent of winterberries
on the vine
had i held my breath
a moment here
to let the snowfall melt
bare feet
where roses grew
one morning
you were mine
as shadows burned
to daylight
dancers on the floor
pages from our story
to defend
when recalled
the times we wasted
waiting one more
kiss –
leaves became
the color of the sun
destined
by the cold
to fall again

a light on the porch, all I really know, almost always, and still, beyond the dark, breath, close enough to touch, closer now to heaven than the stars, do you remember, love

roses are sweet
though I can never tell
the point where
essence is lost
table top manners
and looking glass gold
frail as these fingers
to hold
repent me
no longer –
were nothing but skin
succumb to your waiting
again
mystic translation
of who I became –
bartering breath
for sorrow
fate of the faithless
to bow
long stilled
the passion
of summers made sweet –
whispers forgotten
another someday –
muttering madness
secrets to lies
will takes the hunger
away

choice, do you remember, ghosts, it's what I do, life, love, memory, need, poetry, silence, sometimes, time, when I close my eyes, whispers
in the mellow
afternoon
where you sit
the day alone
fumbling with your papers
with your keys
images replay
every time you close
your eyes
she waits you know
in dreams
whene’er you sleep
just beyond
the memory
of just beyond the trees
music plays
how much louder must
it be
to obscure the loss
erase the cost
how much
before you answer
the silence
of your need

of the ways I came
and here before –
you waited my arrival
kept the candle lit
beyond the cursing sun
wishing now
a welcome home
without the need for blaming
without the want to understand
the reason I was gone
no want for tears
we gave them all
and kicked the boards
for crying –
swore to never love
if love were true
passed a night (or more than one)
without a word between us –
spent the chill of winter
wide awake
and back to back
I wondered
as to moments –
longest time
til I would go –
how much of this
was more than fate –
to prove it wasn’t easy
years from love we loved
before the first
we came too late
straight back chairs
empty lockets –
swore the stars to secret
I left a crumpled note
beneath the bed
planted corn between the
vines –
and waited yellow roses
marked the ways
you knew me
one by lonely one

comfort, do you remember, home, life, love, solace, songs, time, truth, understanding, wisdom, words

seems I found
my way –
I been searching
o so long
never knew
it was this easy
as the words
from some sweet song
to listen
as my heart resounds
with echoes
from above –
whispers
please remember me
to the story
of your love

I’m not the same
as someone said –
green is not my shade
winter white
and maple most refined
who am I to wonder
how it was
you dreamed me home
tis here I found my heart
to let it go
the road remembers
most of it –
a story without end
verses pressed into the names
of stars
sunrise wrapped in blankets
a moment sworn to trust
heaven
always knew
the way to us

beauty, do you remember, echoes of always, faith, life, love, mystery, seasons, time, treasure, truth

do I need a reminder
of places I’ve wandered
above a blue canyon or a babbling stream
would I barter permission
though fated in passing
to remind me of wonder
the color of dreams
what good would it do me
to garner a ticket
for a ship left from port
such a long time ago
to sail on a journey
beyond every sunset
to touch on the memory
of pleasures I’ve known
were once souvenirs
beholding to treasure
of moments twice breathed
into life – into truth
would I be any richer
with a picture of heaven
than the memory of wings
beating soft on the roof
the book of my seasons
sits low on the mantle
pressed by my soul
into beauty I’ve touched
near as a lifetime –
the echo of always
knows no remembrance
would compare then to love
