grace to bend

let me not
an ending be –
or seams sewn taught
by time
let me not
the blossom –
without thorn

as dust pervades
a polished floor
with imprints of the past
bless’ed soul
– this calling out
to be

keep me not
afraid to fall –
til all have felt my ache
as voices roll
beside me
in the dark

grant me not
a place forgot –
but shining brighter still
for those who fell
another day –
my brokenness
to heal

let me not
forgiveness save
within my eager breast
or kisses
tainted lies –
I shall not give
this longing rest

let me not
when time is gone
be haunted by regret
would seal within
my grieving –
gratefulness

hymns where none
are playing –
light beyond this light
if e’er my love
be finished –
I am none

one

what names
have you known me
what body to hold
was the last (time –
your first) to remember
a sweet disregarding
of longing console
endeared
by the search
as a turning of leaves
scarlet to golden
(November)

seeded (to thought)
a beginning unknown
as promises made
without (more)
blessing to bother
or fates to endure
would life become
(missing)
the rest
drawn as the stars
into falling (again)
whispering vapor to flame

what names
have you known me
what body to hold
was the last (time –
your first) to remember

always I am
marigold taxi
I remember the fever
was blushed on the berries
– thorns to my skin
breathless the trek
to a place
in the forest –
where sworn you would come
to claim me again

for every transgression –
another
I love you –
was consequence
weighed in moments
so sweet
hands spoke in quiet
of distances over –
where words came
unraveled
in mid-summer heat

the timbers
were prying –
as angels stood
watching
the giving of graces
one afternoon long
calmed by the weaving
of light through the branches
– a cool before falling
as the world
slumbered on

redemption

how many times
the questions pressed
for where and why we came
– something more
than fleeting happenstance
some sacred sign
was more divine
than e’er for understanding
lips to hear –
speak my name
sometimes

of moments
I’ve protected
as light within this light –
don’t know for much
the way tomorrow goes
– but have I love
and nothing else
shall garner me the more –
when held against
forever
by a smile

names forgot to praying
times I fall apart –
tears have been
forgiven long ago
the breath I am
tis more than just for longing
into life –
was for
the briefest answer
– eternity I knew

messenger

heaven pulls the
mountain –
from his fragile wedding bed
anchored by the river
to her song –
breezes haunt the tired soul
dragonflies to hover
stilled in place
remembering
our soul

one more verse
will cover me –
one more birth to fall
as waters move
around me in the cold
quietly – a soft amen
rustles from the trees
brittle leaves
dance atop
the foam

let indeed
the shadows shine
with mystery uncertain
swirls beyond
this wake of circumstance
magic lies
in wilderness –
bound by fragile thorns
journey on
and I shall find you
there

. . .

breath

sometimes
I want
for nothing much more
than to linger
as memory
divine

willed into life
by your favorite dream –
 a faraway
 promise of flight

recalling to place
a touch, a return
of silhouette framed by the light

eternity comes
in visions so clear
as comforts left bare
in their wake

measured by breath –
the rest pulls away
and still I am one
with this truth

love is our life
when nothing remains
but pieces
we left here
this way

in places eternal
worn down by our will
and sworn to the
white floating
essence of still

remembered
intriguing now
the bondage
of moors against the pins
a tapestry of features
silver spade

haunted by the wrong perfume
nested o’er our heads
awaiting time –
as winter winds to pry

the sleepless
from their slumber
the pigeon from her mate
ne’er thought to far
the object of her pine

fear conveyed in shifting
gathered grace
in letting go –
wings no longer touch
above the storm

. . .

kindred

fleeting blush
of butterflies –
eyes were never blind
strain the gypsy threads
undone by time

hopeful arms of bounty
yearn into
the way
was waiting greener
on the other side

when all we knew
of suffering
is where the parting fell
resting now
beneath the mossy page

nature keeps
no memory
of who was first to die
given up her pen
as flags were raised

spills her tale
as waters rise
to wash away our past
– flutters
neath a vast
forgiving sky

dream direction

of ways I’ve known
how many lost –
counting down the years
how many paths
I wandered –
but to find you
here

longing cut
away the grain –
evidence revealed
of places
I had passed
along the
night

withheld my own
unknowing
 there was life
awaiting me –
as truth
my soul becoming
a love
I couldn’t see
