morningofbeginnings

from the first
a whisper came –
beheld me to november
to wishes
(you remember)
touch divine
a barefoot side of heaven –
as once I thought you knew
a dusted floor
where sunlight split
the pines

a cedar box
of rusted fame
with ne’er a truth to carry
the key is gone –
but for the lock I saved
china plates
will nothing match
these shades of sarsaparilla
blessings of
another time –
forgave

crooked boards
and needs to tend –
tho who will understand
the ways I came
to walk these fields alone
tempted into trouble
morning warms the same
the night so still –
that all the stars have gone

. . .

echoes down to rain ~

fallingstill

touch me
without knowing
what will work
and what will lose –
moments without rush
to understand

the dreams of shared
illusion –
I turned
and you were there
standing with forever
in your hands

dare me love
and I won’t give
of memories – my soul
a morning after
never meant for much

the sweetest verse
became perfume
I wear most every day
reminders –
now reminding me
to love

sweat the night
the smallest sigh
will get me
every time –
were heaven falling
echoes down to rain –

last I knew
you’d find me here
the same
tho nothing easy
catch my smile –
as here I fall again

. . .

another one some sunday ~

waitedme

was another day
some sunday come before
and stars were lining up
out on the lawn
when whispered of another
of destinies fulfilled
He spoke your name
and heard the sound of mine
layer upon layer
years have gone between
lives we passed
awaiting this to dream

for Justin and Rebekah
happy forever now

grounded

with dusk falling
words will not cross my lips
though you tempt my poet’s heart
its gentle beating is content
warm and dreary
as smiles
take silence to new planes

I am lost
melting with raindrops
fingers entwined with yours
making a parachute in case
a gust of wind
tempts our mortality
and speeds us
towards our dreams

we visit thunderheads
and watch the birth
of lightning fantasy
silent white wisps
through the electric fog
shooting us back to the flash
of our love

where
just for one moment
we allow the rest of the world
the joy of whispering
about our secret stars

. . .

a moment one ~

rememberme

however this decided
were other times I knew
of places come –
as heaven waited for
knew the feel of falling
soft against the moon
of nights –
another breath
we shared before

grieve for me
stay with me
dream and I shall find
the place where once your
tired body lay
flush against my longing
two of us no more
a moment one –
as forever
fell away

. . .

last I heard ~

sameasme

last I heard
was miles from here
strung out
like you were before
walking down the places loved
was never wrong
for wanting more

you came along
when wandered so
backward from a long goodbye
I found forever without words
– lost my own
within your sighs

where I am
a thought away
passing somewhere while you dream
eternities
have come and gone
moments fell as verse between

sixteen songs
from memory
plays the best of might have been
losing sight of every star
of where we were
when love began

dusty boots
are faded red
heading some place I don’t know
counting steps between the cars
each far away
where love might go

changing course
for distant lights
another town won’t know your name
won’t know the way I was before
was miles from here
before you came

. . .

times we let ~

notionsofflightlonging sleeps
in soft percale –
with tiny yellow flowers
a shade of thin
are threads already known

as paths
beyond this lowly state –
counted more by grace
life come round
to living us again

as sewn beneath a ruffle
of gentle disregard
for times
we let –
and times we couldn’t go

held before the daylight
wrapped in yesterdays
– quilted patch
of love me more
goodbyes

screen door
opened wide enough
to let all reason fly
the universe we
gathered –
in sheets
of soft percale

. . .

so still ~

eternitynow

as reached across
I sometimes do –
eyes are opened wide
with memory
of once before –
so still

the ways I claim
into the vast
remembrance of knowing
lips are sealed
tho silence sounds
the same

. . .

waited ~

oncewasme

purple gauze
and great big plans
incense burning hotter –
for ways into the past
we’d never come

sworn to meet
though who knows how
or when the time
for leaving
the universe
remembered us
this way

leaning long
outside the door
offering surrender
I fall again –
whene’er I say
your name

gypsy moth
is swimming
in echoes we’ve forgotten
light is balanced
soft against my sin

then as now
a moment here –
and how was I to ever
think another lost
was never gone

lie again
within my reach –
swirl in day old coffee
forever once
we waited –
another breath to come

. . .

reaching ~

findmestill

a gentle boy
tho no one knew
the path he must have made
wondered more than I
to why he came
with silver minnow leeches –
carved against a rock
slipped into the places
I remain

somewhere springs
an ancient tide
of endless crystal beaches
last I heard
the earth was come
around
to see your way
would understand
words I never said-
footprints glowing red
in sheets of clay

bide your time
take of mine
the reasons we remember
vine was strung from evergreen
as once I loved you
more –
penning notes
forever wrote –
to slips of oak and willow
poems came to rhyme
against the day

traded me the sunrise –
forgiven
us the night –
one more story
whispers us away
