Sailed I once
into your blue
and fell as ash somewhere –
washed with rock
along the canyon carved.
Homeward
(closer) to the sea
you carried (lifted) me.
Guarded I the seed
became your kingdom.
No more than one –
one tiny grain –
but there a garden grew
with trees so tall
they skirted heaven’s rafters.
Another home
was anchored there
with view to lands above –
No less than kings
love resolved to love.

Sailed I once into your blue
and fell as ash somewhere.

nearlynow

was for joy
another lived –
beyond my fingertips
beyond the scent
of rivers
gentle hands

are fastened
by my memory –
held in place too long
with wanting
let me never
love the same

talk about
and all I know
is what of me remains
missing of my heart
the sweetest
name

nights have passed
beyond the dream
somewhere else
I live
a telling
of the moments
falling through

. . .

inside out ~

silent words

I’ve worn
my inside out –
bones upon the floor
let my soul to dry
against the sun
grieved for understanding
told with lies
my truth
a purpose weaved
of patterns
come undone

when making
into story –
was more than I could say
more than I could tell
at any cost
were letting go
and letting in –
pages kept with tears
lives I’ve lived
tho ne’er a one
was lost

. . .

the almost lines of future lives ~

remember

once
in still
another wrote
his name
upon my soul
a lovely shade –
no different
than my own
cursive drew
across and through
back and forth
(remember)
the stiches were so small
I never knew

the almost lines
of future lives
the need
where grief would tarry
for never would
my story
love deny
dots and dips
and slashes –
longing curlicues’
are weaved
into the rhythm
of a sigh

. . .

a dream to sleep within ~

crossed

dared again
the soul to tend –
one more wish
defending
the truth would come
– a dream
to sleep within
hastened by this evermore
spring recalls
the leaving –
morning brushes
winter
o’er my skin

sweeter
this arrangement
to speak
with silent tongue
to dream of places
crossed –
the same dark skies
touching on an
in between
I know you watch
the same
stars are falling
– we are realigned

birthdaymorning

of choices
I’ve no memory
of when
and where you’ve gone
the roads
between
or how I’ll carry
on

the way
of mine –
the blossoms sore
but for the times
confessed
when woke for you
another sunday
best

let me feel
let me stay
curve into my places
surrender not
a moment
of regret

of stars
beyond the reach
of where
forever let us
lead –
a silence
just as sweet
I’ll not forget

. . .

a way through the weeds ~

gracesundeserved

how much
our forgiving
for words yet unsaid
and a place we remember
come round
as a sweet recollection
of familiar returned
– a house on a hill
falling down

a buzz on the fields
a way through the weeds
and somewhere
– they miss us
the same
pieces are kept
of the leaving we took
 places and graces
and names

tho deeper the will
to discover the path
was ours
from beginning to end
love shall return us
the ways
were come –
to remember
this moment again

briefly

had I known
of another –
of times before this
where life was
revealed in shadows
of bliss
and spread into sorrows
one tear could divide
– as oceans were split
our fate to decide

what of this
we were keeping –
what of joy
shall we pay –
shall sleep in the moss
o’er the places
we lay

what blossom
is seeded –
by the ache of despair
shall burst
as a garden –
to fields unaware
of moments we came
or the ways
we once found –
how long was the journey
I wonder

sunrise
the same as it was
just before –
when last I lay down
this journey
to prove –

remembering now
to another
sometime –
as the road I was taken
returns me
anew

. . .

melodies ~

where the evening falls
eternal –
to the land
of yellow birds
songs are drifting back to me
as melodies unheard

as flowers
strained to blooming
where the snow is piling high –
will I remember this forever
a star within my night

will ashes
be blown over –
to the shores where I belong
as ripples to the river –
where your love is known

of seasons
barely noticed –
as locust passing by
petals painted roses
to the sheets –
a lullabye

as ribbons
from my weaving
left to signs along the way
as proof of love’s surrender
come whatever
come what may

souvenirs of red and gold
ancient purple strands –
as choice to be
so willingly –
and want to understand

the path resolved
to go alone –
beneath the lowly pines
shall free for me the traces
of another time

when love was new
the creek was rising
swift beneath my skin –
and all night long
was not enough
to live

. . .

days when I knew ~

of days when I knew
you were waiting somewhere
running your fingers
o’er words written there
of those I imagined –
I cling to them still
and sleep within places
you rest unaware

as one with a moment
I can’t be forsaken –
by changes in weather
a shift in the wind
of love without time
or need for becoming –
as is
I am there
in your places
again

of mornings some place
much nearer than now
to sit in the quiet of night
with your name
resolved to a feeling
(I can’t understand)
while others I questioned
each reason the same

from the places you are
the places of me
are times when you think
on your own destiny –
do you wonder (I wonder)
sometimes until dawn
where I am –
how I know –
what of us will become

as it is
it is ever –
even now I am near
as your hand to the pages –
as a smile to your tears

loving arms
to remind you –
as was once you did me
when the dark
was surrounding  –
(you were something to see)

like the end
a beginning –
both the same (to my soul)
a whisper of promise –
was a dream
taking hold
