still my sound
with ancient prose –
haiku of the heart
ease the want for needing
more than this
sieve my thoughts
to paper –
where now your name is writ
poems memorized
upon a kiss

wring my rhyme
from history –
for once you knew me well
two beats more
than then –
a sweeter song
kept my heart from beating
saved another breath –
margins wished away
before the dawn

score me to the lines
another meant to own
when found the pen
was waiting
for the page
swirled within the indigo
parchment of regret
hold me here –
your longing to assuage

soft –
this quiet calling
as willing to belong
floats the night
so tenderly
to song

veil of pretense
chords of light –
hands prepared to play
hearts to listen
distant drums
as borders rubbed away

silver green
eternal dawn –
another place I go
sweet the night
to pass between –
awakening
my soul

tempt me now
to softer rhyme –
was come of word to still your tongue
eager fingers speak of pleasures –
trace the verses
we’ve become

evermore
as I shall keep you
begged to wander my delight –
kisses (more than I remember)
are secrets worn away
by night

fragile words
with strength to save me
loving rhythms – ancient creed
songs of you so sweetly whispered
fill my soul
with silent need

be forgiving –
the passing of days
or heaven give notice
this loving to praise

surrendered
the memory
of everything dear
as darkness remembered
another to fear

come now
from your hiding
as sorrow betrayed
love shall forever
be reason to save

were touch
but the only
gift left of goodbye –
when traded a lifetime
of wondering why

we gave of a moment
an eternity still –
love without measure
our purpose to fill

as thunder
rushed from lightning
falling back in time
the universe has made

how near
the moment
passed outside
the window left undone
worlds apart –
yet only here makes sense

the distance
not so very –
as the promise of once more
were spirits come
to witness us
again

between the next
the last of never
was – a midnight pause
sighs are met with wonder
what we might

do with one more lifetime
trade for one more night
forgiven now
the sun
to leave us blind

of falling in
or coming back
no other to consider
the truth was always here –
and I was home

stay awhile
don’t be shy
I’ll share with you
my mother –
years will find
us closer anyhow

touch
enough for memory
will swell my heart
the moon-
save this place
perfecting us
to love

somewhere
eyes are watching
the heavens
for a sign –
winds to bear me
easy
to your arms

were our story
without ending –
the road would lead us on
forgotten not the turning
or the fall
reminders of eternity
wink and they’ll be gone
hands to hold –
and one to change
it all

eighty years
or sometimes ten –
a garden loved by thorns
a rusty metal rocker
hides the shade
baskets stained by picking
weeds to bind the fence
bees are telling
every plan
we made

a worn out
sunday prophet –
folds his bible near
tho none can read the name
it used to hold
leather bound by promise –
love would get us through
trees are bending
double
in the cold

I been down
and got back up –
to know
(I know) of love
of seasons undecided
by the light
of passing into paradise
to live beyond these days
gardens yield for tending –
somewhere sweet
tonight

I wish
there were things
that you knew
of places I go
to wander the night
might you see
without sight
like ten thousand before
as spark to the empty –
a star beyond light

as a place
of beginning –
fields standing bare
with will for another
hurt to erase
the memory of ruin
is burdened by grief –
by prayers
never heard –
unspoken to grace

would nature
return
as the first
light was come –
without reason or want
for the falling into
a story awaiting
your hand at the pen
making truth of the darkness
what is seen –
what is knew

carried once more –
as ash on the lips
of a far away wind
grieve
not the leaving
bear not the blame
or sit long the night
with my name

forgiven
the passage
of death into light
in breaking again
to living I came –
sworn to remember
the sorrows I’ve known
to ease one –
another we waited
this long

to be
as in being
a promise once made
to ease of the ache –
a salve
to the pain
to listen

let me
remember
the heart of revealing
wrapped in surrender
alive in your eyes
grant me
a moment
when all is forsaken –
but the smell of your skin
the song of your sigh

give me
forever –
no more for this passing
of evermore come
the intention of flame
prayers for delay
the morning forgotten
would silence give room
the sound
of my name

show me
to know you
the same as was then –
another we lingered
tho lifetimes ago
fill me
with storybook tales
of tomorrow –
trade for my breathing
your own –
nice and slow

let me
grant me
fill me for keeping
something this sweet –
for another shall end
life before living
leave me to wonder
give me
receive me –
take me again
