always I am
marigold taxi
I remember the fever
was blushed on the berries
– thorns to my skin
breathless the trek
to a place
in the forest –
where sworn you would come
to claim me again

for every transgression –
another
I love you –
was consequence
weighed in moments
so sweet
hands spoke in quiet
of distances over –
where words came
unraveled
in mid-summer heat

the timbers
were prying –
as angels stood
watching
the giving of graces
one afternoon long
calmed by the weaving
of light through the branches
– a cool before falling
as the world
slumbered on

. . .

all we have ~

heaven here

of moments
these are all we have
o how they’ve rushed away
people
places
graces
gone before
how sweet their echo
tumbles –
laughter on the lines
times I woke
to find your story
mine

. . .

tethered ~

messenger

heaven pulls the
mountain –
from his fragile wedding bed
anchored by the river
to her song –
breezes haunt the tired soul
dragonflies to hover
stilled in place
remembering
our soul

one more verse
will cover me –
one more birth to fall
as waters move
around me in the cold
quietly – a soft amen
rustles from the trees
brittle leaves
dance atop
the foam

let indeed
the shadows shine
with mystery uncertain
swirls beyond
this wake of circumstance
magic lies
in wilderness –
bound by fragile thorns
journey on
and I shall find you
there

. . .

all the same ~

such am i

more than one
of all we’ve known
lands beyond our fathers
touched as one
the sands beneath
the sea

remember –
I remember
the beauty of becoming
something more
for love you came
to free

of worlds remain
forbidden
by the way
you turn your head
swirling in your silver
let me be

flickers float
behind these lids
reminders
 all the same
of places I am still –

remember me

. . .

lines to cross ~

 comfort my

were passion
but a line to cross –
a turn of anguished page
(conforming not)
the heart to fear –
or sorrows to assuage

were comfort here
and only this –
why tarry
come to stay
(and bring the kite
we never flew –
dreams we put away)

were love resolved to limits
rules were written
(were they not) –
was there a way
I came for you
(and others
I’ve forgot)

were birth the death
I’ve come to tell –
think not it be
the one
for truth
defines the seeker –
(a journey never done)

let loose the chains
unlock the ache –
raise the broken window high
take this breath
(my only)
as my last

change of me
as shadows shift –
and colors alter form
lest names
be all the proof (we find)
of light
(we shared) before

. . .

places ~

behind

mercies I’ve known
of more than my share
and places
the world disregards

let them fall
into slumber
let their kind burn away
but for notions and living
so misunderstood

would wish not the knowing
our lives to embrace
or beauty the colors
we’ve not yet
to see

split between ruby and red
and whites the same
virgin
as doves to the sky
in a postcard of Jesus
stood by the sea

would ever these eyes
be meant to recall
the differences
more
than we wanted
to be

. . .

again ~

sometime somewhere

was one
or ten thousand
as times to recall
where we were
when we started (again)
presence blended
into one by the light –
and passed as thought
to the wind

was a day
or lifetimes
blossomed from tears
the blue
so amazing –
in waters below
we talked without talking
holding and yet
separate for changing
the story (again)

was it left
in our place
as we sat in the shade
that day (one day)
of another
leaves were falling
hands without need
but to trace
where the grain
gave way into word

rainbows
were reaching
your colors to steal
as laughter
fell sweet to my skin

as wonder
I waited
for one more (again)
to hang on
with every goodbye
how many forevers
the turning would come
finding our way
just the same
as before

mapped to our soul
was the ending (again)

of others I’m sure
I’ve forgotten (not one)
as they stir
in the place left of dreams
dear as was ever
another just now
traces of thought
give way
to a smile

(can it be)
love becoming
without need for a time
yet so many
now passed (on the way)
are come
as was fated –
into places I am
as a mark on my heart
of beginning (again)

. . .

 languages untouched

lest I be
some other me
and falter in my words –
gathered now
as broken verse to rhyme
else form concede
my soul to write
voices none can hear
of passions –
but a moment
almost mine

suffer me the limits
of a language
not my own
curs’ed dictionary
to repeal –
as witness
to my longing
meanings ne’er the same
lines constrained
forgotten not
to feel –

the blue
within the sorrow
azure
peacock
sky
e’er soft convey
the beauty of a kiss
would grey
the storm remember
smoke above the pines
– eyes the shade of rain
a morning mist

helpless pen
to struggle
where words – so few
remain
as part of me
a purpose undefined
by counted lines
or breaths between
the living and the tell –
a poem
I’m becoming
without a thought
for rhyme

. . .

harvest

the seasons
unrelenting –
as chasing one another
winter blew
as ashes on July
last we spoke –
November
was a time I’ve come
to love –
holding still
the magic of our spring

waiting there
within the chill
of autumn to the harvest –
more than e’er
we knew to understand
bitter wheat
was turned again
to seed the fields of summer –
dreams we dreamed
awake us different
now

across
and thru
these sleepless nights
blankets drag
the ground –
revealed another truth
for why we came
wanting but for nothing
would see the past
undone –

the snow would melt
to flowers all
around

. . .

remains ~

blessing

of then
another came
and I was loved
before I knew
the road ahead –
would curve into the wonder
of the blue

of ways
I never noticed
where my sorrow would
remain –
wrapped in linen
joys –
every sweet release
of pain

of life
the willing servant
comes the only path
to keep
witness to the loss
was found a place
within my deep

of choice
the answer always
comes – would love
and die for this
reminded of the scars
but more
the bliss

of then
I have such reasons
to touch – to live
to grow
within this perfect
presence –
another I shall
know

. . .
