lest i want for more
than breakfast
from your hands
words to spill
golden into light
the crush of dawn
another breath
surrendered
i remember
how it was to want
for nothing but the night
to pull around
easy
winter blankets
jealous were the stars
for where we lay
feasting on a moment
promised were they all
another time
with nothing more to want
than everything
. . .

however long
forever
saved itself for thee
to learn again
the depths
where love was fated
come for me
and i for you
i for this
when years were long
and cold
i dreamed beyond
the reach of dreams –
beyond the weight
of woe
lest prayers revive
the wonder
of more than once
enough
time is resurrected
by a promise
left to love
. . .

forgotten
the places
would gather me home
regardless how tender
the vows
of goodnight
starry reminders
silken brocade
is stretched across bones
meant to fly
another
forgiveness
a soiled regret
for moments let go
while the candle
still burned
while promise was tied
to this place
we begin
fashioned of words
we’d forgotten
to learn
. . .

thought i once
the path was gone
every fence torn down
could barely see
the meadow
for the trees
nights i took for granted
stars that used
to shine
shooting re-reminders
of a wish
i made
one time
another life
we fit together
gave of breath to know
the ways that we would come
with moments yet
to hold
years to grant
gathered as a promise
once we made
would find us here
remembering
the wish we left
to fate
. . .
18 Thursday May 2023
sacred divine
moments made over
left with a note
by the gate
tell me again
how long you are leaving
how near
to returning
this missing of late
like promise
made real
as everything
somewhere
out past the creek
rolling in green
remember me now
a vow of surrender
aligned me with stars
with wishes unseen
caught in my hair
do you remember
me now
some sacred divine
with permission
to stay
a lifetime to prove
as a matter of fate
write me a letter
tell me a story
how long are you leaving
how much more
shall i wait
. . .

beyond the pull
of northern lights
a roll of sacred tongue
reminds me now
how far from birth
another birth is come
to take me in
to lift me up
when i’d forgotten how
it felt to love
it felt to fly –
this destiny allowed
with arms to save
from all that was –
tis you
where i belong
tho nights were lost
to slumber –
was for this
i waited on
. . .

i have loved
without worry
for where it might end
slept through a dream
with no memory
of home
tasted your name
before i could speak
waited this moment
to come
i have lost
i have fallen
i have wandered away
on promises dealt
without want for the rest
without need to remember –
a love such as this
sunlight where darkness
made sense
of it all
then somewhere
forever fell from a wish –
promises meant
to be true
i tasted your name
before i could speak –
waiting a memory
of you
. . .
23 Thursday Feb 2023
were there a means
for understanding
some longing
to discern
a place for every hurt
i leave behind –
breath becoming more
than just the memory
of words
a moment you were falling
into my
eternal rhyme
and i remember
what it took to find
you here –
to get you home
tethered to a promise
whispered
soft against the night –
reminders
of the only thing i know
to resurrect
love to get us back
where we
belong
. . .
