tempted

I’m hearing voices
and seeing signs –
sparks where stars
once played
as ancient spirits come for me –
to steal my words away

of violins
and neverminds –
are reasons I don’t know
memories
to claim my porch –
pile up with the snow

been here so long
the roads have worn –
and weeds are folded over
on places once we wandered back –
to spend but one
in clover

shared a dream
tho not so much –
for fear to curs’ed fate
squandered not our destinies –
on lifetimes come
too late

promise
of one more embrace –
words survived the fall –
love needs not a place to be
but spreads
to take it all

recall to me
the winters past
of times –
and truth and reason
of moments more defined
and less restrained

by what was said
and who would grieve
our questions of redemption
when wondered of a time
when all was love

restore these fields
of innocence –
a lazy Thursday morn –
and nowhere soon to go
that cannot wait

gather me
to all you have –
a destiny forthcoming –
a place no longer
shadowed by the stars

of graces
we’ve forsaken
in the want for something less
would progress
take the place of times
we loved

fragile consolation
to all we might have known
when passed this way
again –

another time

give to me
the memory
of years unfated now
tho dreams can only take me
where I go

longing wears
a purple dress
the shade of which I love
and worries not for sins
already paid

of choices
long forsaken
to the wilderness of age –
and the chance to know again
was almost gone

when in the still
of wanting –
a time I found my way
and leaned into eternities
with you

unnoticed complication
to dwell on
might have beens –
had stars been lined
along another blue

had waters
risen higher than
the mark beneath my stone
or weighted more than wishes
to my skies

dreamers swear
to know me well
of words that fall so easy
spreading in their wake
my mystery

years
of almost silent
tears I never cried
tho rarely now –
I speak of you aloud

just the same
as somewhere else
I let my passions loose –
a place already gathered
to my soul

verses float
the smokey gale
dragons roost the cedars
words denied
are coming round
again

to places
you are part of
every one – in every way
to dreams
where others sleep alone
I wandered yesterday

to lexington in autumn
endless fields
of winter grain
where friends around me gathered –
seeking refuge from the rain

ribbons kept to letters
nights I read them
one by one
– and listened
as the sirens wailed
into the dying sun

you were there
and I was fearless –
every story bound to mine
with no worry for tomorrow
– or a longing
undefined

of faraway confessions
I’ve forsaken death for love –
was a moment
you were with me –
do you remember where
that was

of pictures in my wallet
some are older than my sins
and graces come
whenever I am here –
I’m there again
swept up in my passions
alive in yesterdays –
and lying in the room
reserved for dreams
I sail away

it’s the wonder of temptation
the lure of letting go –
and late nights
when the kitchen’s warm
I swim in world’s below
my feet against the hardwood
my spine against the wall –
someone speaks in riddles
echoes ringing
from the fall

reminds me of another
and times I couldn’t stay –
met me as was coming back
o’er reasons unbetrayed
by silverware and secrets
where winds uncertain blew
across and back
my recollect –
of things I never knew

as once before
a last goodbye
before the time
of keeping
hands remembered hands
the same as mine

breath endures
a passing thought
as kiss resolved to memory
another place for moments
passed into
the end of time

was hope renewed
by living
let me die or let me love –
and worry not for seasons
past today

or sweep along
the easy lies –
reminders of our sin
rhyme already written
to the frey

stir the sense
of madness –
beg my fever climb
so different now –
are blessings left to share

softer now
the touching
of thoughts we couldn’t bear –
briar seemed so sweet
when we were there

syllables counted
suitcases gone
as something reminds
our season to end –
when wore me back down
as wing’eds to flame
and the ways of the wanderer
starting
again

as something (made stronger)
than compass
to bend –
maps become lines
in the choice of retreat
passions (so easy)
as sunlight to shade
where closing
my eyes
the story repeats

as briar
and blossom –
willow to wren
keepers were seeking
of keys (stayed behind)
pages spill over
with moments of truth
as black splits the night
into echoes
of time

since the age
of deciding
another to chance
guarded recycles –
aquarius come
aligned with my stars
as the sky
(nothing more)
as once I was written
to rings by the sun

wait
as I will
a lifetime (much more)
ten thousand
so quickly
my path to retrace
by births unremembered
my heart wakes (anew)
as night folds –
yet steals not
my place

remember me
to empty arms –
an ember of belonging
places reconstructed by the light
remember these
of mysteries –
awaited your divine
petals opened now
will never close

remember me
the dapple sun –
as folded to her rising
the memory of raindrops
on the lawn
garner me
a time to tell –
promises forgotten
of breath returned in secret
blue within the smoke

remember me
as ink professed –
chapters now fulfilling
markers where the end was meant to be
carry love
as autumn crops –
harvest for the journey
a winter not yet satisfied
of snowflakes
gathering

remember me
of falling down –
and evenings spooled with grace
of slow unwinds
beneath the pines –
to bring me back this way
remember us –
to evermore
was there we first began
with hope for one more season
to every might have been

the summer storm
of winter
to the trees

of fates undecided
by the moons
of july –
and wishes where
waters we flowed –
backwards returning
and further yet
north –
a frozen reminder
of time passing on

forgotten
the reasons –
for every misstep
and paths without conscious
to lure us away
as prophets forsaken
by promise to love –
for boots
and a bible –
was heaven betrayed

who’s to know
who would listen
were the world
made to hear –
and sworn for release
was music
to make

of another I knew
a truth almost gone
and a flame more
than dark could recall
a whisper dissolved
on the hope of a sigh
and worried
not far –
for the coming
again

I’ve known you awhile
more than nights
without name
or stories I’m sure
to remember –
swirls within letters
beauty disguised –
loops became lust
became love

sweet recognition
of times here before
turning of seasons
with nothing to lose –
reminders
how easy
was loving to breathe –
retelling of stories
once written
of you
