into
ten million miles
wing’ed lovers fly
eager as the pull
to home –
of once familiar skies

never knew
the way –
never felt the same
was something more to dream
to love
as I was loving you –
every mile between

as memory
committed now –
to feel what is your song
the weathered beat
of rhyme
is versed – equaled
by my own

as thunder
rushed from lightning
falling back in time
the universe has made
a place –
for leaving words
behind

ease me to going
carried once more –
as ash on the lips
of a far away wind
grieve
not the leaving
bear not the blame
or sit long the night
with my name

forgiven
the passage
of death into light
in breaking again
to living I came –
sworn to remember
the sorrows I’ve known
to ease one –
another we waited
this long

to be
as in being
a promise once made
to ease of the ache –
a salve
to the pain
to listen
(I listen)
I hear what you say
as I lie awake
crying
your tears

of destiny
I’ve heard them say
another sun shall rise
committed as the sparrow
to remain
balanced on a northern wind
knowing me this way
tho time has passed –
til no one knows
my name

in sheets of iceberg
melting –
lives before I lived
rest against these windows
unafraid
of seasons gone
to blow again –
across and through my soul
reminders of some other
love I know

forgiven me
an early sky
where every star burns blue
destiny rewritten
to my will
beats beneath ten thousand wings
as one among the clouds
names are wrote
and I remember
still

I knew the last –
every blessing pressed between
as years would flow
the river to the spring
backward to the starting
forever just for this –
knee to knee
and kiss to eager kiss

without song
I heard the music
someone sang it once for me
and danced me round
beneath an amber sky
swirled away
as come what may
time betrayed the end –
meet me there
was all I heard him say

in the still
I found my seasons
as promise one time made
to wake anew
when leaves were on the ground
listening for violins –
held me here before
last I knew –
the first would come
again

as far
from my memory –
a you I don’t know
is willed into life
by the lure of a flame
wrapped in illusion
of a touch long ago –
moments
no longer the same

as a partial
remembrance –
of lives passed away
love we were hoping to keep
one more day –
folded as pages
to yesterday’s dream
margins
surely to fade

saving for none
the promise of more
than a once
curs’ed vapor –
left burning before
in the recess of always
where names
have been lost –

a time
before taking
of breath
we forgot

I have no regard
for the strength of a diamond –
an untested vow

of urgencies pushed
in the dead heat of night
where soft lies
the sigh
of surrender

speak not of seasons
where heartache was made
or fields sewn by ash
and dismay
spare me to sleep
for the sake of desire
the promise of rest
in your
arms

shush
there’s no need
to complain
of the time
tis nothing worth wasting
by name

were e’er the truth
be hiding –
as a speck against the night
as blue beneath
the april lizard’s tongue
as echoes burned
to dying song –
crickets born to cry
forgotten to the living
everything

were stories ours
for writing –
the ending still unseen
revealed in lacey shadows
down the hall –
or grown beyond
the reach of roots
warm beneath the clay –
clutched within the hands
of everything

were reason
ours to master –
seasons ours to sail
worlds beyond the red
that is our flame
of life and love
resounding –
crushes now the sigh
rolled onto the back
of everything

were moments
but a glimmer –
sand between our toes
dimestore glue
and glitter
make a crown
light to torch the fabric
wherein our love
is one –

come to see
(come to be) the truth
in everything
