crow-snow_600

held not
the feather
falling –
the winter
from the chill
a long night
how I held you then
as pardon given
will

as ashes
blown the way
of march –
of april sons
and fathers –
who am I to question
what the passing
seasons leave

as noted here
no more than this –
eternity
we opened
an understanding
more than I can say
once we were
together –
might the warmth
recall me now

holding
still
to lifetimes
worn away

remember
lest I ask you
for a memory
or two
a time before
our touching
held a kiss –
angels bent
to tell us
where and when
the way
we knew –

of all was left
a moment more
of bliss

the ways of remember ~

hereandthen

carry me now
the ways of remember –
a silver white light
laid soft
on the dawn
awaking in time
the once held suspicion
love lingers still
in places
unknown

to walk
near the graves
of the last without name
thirty five more
past the broken down gate
to surrender
my keeping
of moments so fair
as paths through
the silence
– to wake
with you there

in the still
born of letting –
words
into smoke
how far from the sleeping
steps turn to stone
were garnered
of moments –
I hold yet their truth
in dreams
of becoming –
to carry me
home

. . .

a way becoming ~

patchwork

last night
I dreamed
(my waking one) –
a house
my ways becoming
and split three times
the porch
into the sun

the steps were broken
(all my paths
were worn)

held me there
one winter –
buried me
beneath
an ancient bough
– a stretch
of cedar wings

a longing
(not so much) apart
recalls another me
miles without a story
(coming true)
blossoms from a place
where once
I scattered
memories

. . .

easing into destinies ~

whereandstill

what story
mine
the way recalls
a distant
almost sun
with rite to burn
– falling leaves
of flame

upon the path
of conciousness
through this ache
restored –
dreams where
none were known
to be the same

easing
into destinies
of where
the blossom sleeps
love returns
a memory
by name

. . .

heaven tucked away ~

SONY DSC

a place
beyond the golden shade
where once
my love was come
sprouted every april
with the sun
garnered me
a letting go
I never could be sure
of memories
left somewhere
I don’t know

while dreaming there
with all the rest
names I dare not say
are folded
soft to verses –
heaven tucked away
in cedar shifts
with last year’s plans
someone else
I knew
would find this way
so different
for our passing
through

fated by the willing
of one
this heart to hold
a rhyme
for every reason
I’ve become
eternities are wasted
in the waning now
for more –
than this
of us
a memory of home

. . .

the only me I know ~

last I knew

there was a place
we were going
never knew from where
we came
our dreams were old
but dying meant
we’d never leave again –
we could take of these
and leave the rest behind

there was a spot
along the highway –
we stopped just yesterday
and counted miles
stones and stars –
the distance to today
never stayed for long
the holding on
was more than we
could take

was a breath before I caught it
pushed away

there were words
denied of meaning
thought denied a place –
wings the width of shoulders
held together
strings of grace

there were maps
to match –
and ways to clear
cedars filled with swallows
and blue –
the deepest blue
beyond the trees

never looked the same
when looking back
recalled another morning
when cotton floated
low above the fields

it seems that way
the way it was –
and I with love to squander
could have sworn I held your hand
and closed my eyes

eternity
was always more
than I could dare imagine –
when a moment stretched
to take of time –
the only me
I know

. . .

sense of the dark ~

aboveme

stealing me now
three breaths
(maybe more)
as you lay
with your head
on my heart
telling aloud
the story beginning
– light making sense
(of the dark)

maybe
(and sure)
this fate to uncover
was writ
long before
we were one
to know (as we know)
to feel (what we feel)
wrapped
in a moment –
remembered as home

stealing me now
three breaths
(maybe more)

. . .

falling stars ~

destinies

gather not
to story
the wages
made of sin
forgiving fault
– were grace
to take us in

speak not ill
the passing
lest for stones
your journey stall
remembered love
was come
to save us all

each tender word
– a sacred touch
of truths
we cannot see
alight the path
of darkness
our chosen destiny

a bitter charge
delayed us once –
mending now the whole
scars
the same as falling stars
aligning heart
and soul

. . .

the same as night ~

tearsarefalling
might I help you
to remember –
of moments (all but gone)
how sweet the rain
(of words)
against the moon

of graces given
heart and soul –
(and when will you
return)
to chase the chill
another rhyme to bloom

as whispers
pass unspoken
the same
(most every time)
a promise scattered far
on ancient wings

willing us to wonder
did you know
(how could you know)
of birds
the same as night
ten thousand sing

their way across
a paper sky –
(once you told me why)
tho everything
(my everything)
has changed

deeper now –
the places kept
are tempered
into bone –
with all I know –
(familiar
falls) the rain

. . .

this I know ~

stillIam

gather me
surrender me
lest I come again
to blossom
where your path
is willed to go –
life is where
I love the most
rhyme within
my words
more than faith –
a part of this
I know

for one day
I’ll discover –
the way was come
for me
knew my name
before the heavens set
held by breath
a fragile soul –
winds were waiting still
an evermore
awaits without
regret

of late –
I’m reminded
of years already gone
places I can touch
as would I please
dream beyond
my sleeping –
as one with I the night
wills my tired body
to my knees

sitting
now the silence
where sunlight
yesterday
fell against
a broken window pane
warmed a region
of my heart
thought was meant
for chill –
fires burn
despite
the pouring
rain
