who am I
they wonder
though I shall not concede
or give them more than rhyme
to understand

lace was never denim
pearls are thrown away
and verse will always win
the morning fight

dreams are more
than one night stands
and more than someone telling
of places faraway –
much closer now

time is something less
than lines –
gifted to the reader
spilled into the yellow
indigo

Paint and brush
to claim me –
red against your black.
Fair to feathers
floating skyward –
words as silence soar.

Breath to warm
each thrill survived –
hope kept in the dark
sits in boxes –
packing
tissue paper hearts.

Forgetting naught
for why it is –
of all I might pretend
– each time we talk –
a time I fall
again.

Forever waits
unbidden –
a schoolgirl once all over –
yesterday don’t matter
where we are.

With thoughts of you
returning –
same old maps
to borrow.
Roads may get me nowhere –
I won’t miss.

Stay the night
and tell me –
of mysteries to know –

like where the wander takes you
when you go.

Mountains fall
to passages between –
here I am
and you a part
of places I am better.

Line by line –
writing in the dark.

lines of love ~

solitude
to match my eyes
cappucine and copper
til every truth
is fated by the glass

storms of steel
beyond the pond –
black the swan song singing
blush to pale
in blankets of the morn

wheat to sway
as winds to grieve
the answers unforgiving
times before we passed
are with us now

still the pace
of longing –
drawn to lines of love
reach for me
the part of you
unknown

. . .

as longing to lead
wisdom unfurling –
words unpretentious
grow silent today
drifted the dreamer
when held by compassion –
as winter white sands
swept the springtime
away

sweet
indiscretion –
of fortunes to one
as pulled from the mountains
and pushed to the sail
beautiful stillness
paints our forgiveness –
in letters unopened
the truth to foretell

let me to wander
life as a sparrow –
floating on sunlight
ten feet off the ground
known as I’m knowing
to seasons
no stranger –

winter falls slowly
in places I’m found

syllables counted
suitcases gone
as something reminds
our season to end –
when wore me back down
as wing’eds to flame
and the ways of the wanderer
starting
again

as something (made stronger)
than compass
to bend –
maps become lines
in the choice of retreat
passions (so easy)
as sunlight to shade
where closing
my eyes
the story repeats

as briar
and blossom –
willow to wren
keepers were seeking
of keys (stayed behind)
pages spill over
with moments of truth
as black splits the night
into echoes
of time

since the age
of deciding
another to chance
guarded recycles –
aquarius come
aligned with my stars
as the sky
(nothing more)
as once I was written
to rings by the sun

wait
as I will
a lifetime (much more)
ten thousand
so quickly
my path to retrace
by births unremembered
my heart wakes (anew)
as night folds –
yet steals not
my place

gone blue ~

as thought to a moment
lotus gone blue
spinning my soul out of sight
love clings to wonder
the hand without hold
as warmth swept aside
when lonely
is come

as rush to the willows
the breezes of May
have carried
to spirit the secrets we saved
eastern to rise
as a once faithful star
come softly to nights
where I lay

were not for the one
to know of me now –
ages and graces undone
pull me beside
as stories retold
and I’ll fold to tears
every time

garner me truth
I can’t say I’ll know
tho once held the name
of another I knew
places somewhere –
they whisper of me –
as lotus too long
letting go

shifting ~

silver slash
of copper canyons –
lined with linen
satin sheets
careless carve
of age and water –
blue as cold
the waters sleeve

downward
upward – backward
flowing
washed beneath
these ruby walls
held alone with swishing
sweaters
knitted by the night
to shawl

silent here
the place of gathers
fathers more than years
to save
pushed as luck
below the surface
ashes blown
into the grave

the first to go –
the last to linger
faces
places
blur the line
eyes rolled back
and there the future –
consequence
of love’s design

dimestore pearls
and easy does it
spend the last
of me to go
somewhere down the way
of searching –
time will prove
you told me so

I’ll be fine
no cause to worry
dare I leave the night ajar
one more step
from here to never
given push –
one time too far

blackened beaks
and silver rudders
destiny denied to form
close as some
the shadow spirals
reason rides before
the storm

float
within these ethers
wake beyond this night –
to places where your name
is hardly known
where stories
of your coming
have not yet found the page
scripture without word
to touch the soul

steal beyond this moment
of remembering
your love –
flowers yet are blossomed
gardens great
grieved to weed
and held by vine –
let be and I shall find
souvenirs where passing
once you grew

message of surrender
tell them all for why you came
and I shall bare the truth
within my own –
voice of something truer
than music you
deny –

lean into the melody
become a violin

silently
as ancient breeze –
move against these chords
raise the softest hair
with verses sweet
memories of other times
whispers came to bloom –

lilac breathed into
the golden light

. . .

this bliss ~

still
as a moment
pressed into light
a sigh
then another
let go

slow
as the beating
of locust to storm
and honey the bee
shall become

sweet
as remembered
bursting to song
and words
without reason
to stay

soft
as the whisper
of breath to my skin
where pleasing
the morning shall lay

fearless
falling –
breast to the blue
held to the clouds
by my soul

touch
and I’m one
with the essence
of life
as spirit finds wing
on the wind
